    Hand's on here

    Trailer here

All on the front page anyway but just wondering what people think of this taking a classic and making God of War out of it :). Looks sweet as just a game anyhow and the team behind it gets me very excited indeed!

    Speak the truth hussy!

Well, I liked God of War. If they do something like that then I'll probably like this as well.

Although the main character isn't very interesting. And that multi-headed beast towards the end of the trailer looks a bit rubbish.

    "THEY'RE MURDERING THE BOOK"

/stares at copy on shelf, untouched and unchanged by this action/adventure

It looks good to me. I think the hack and slash genre is a little light these days so any new games have to be a good thing.

As for it pissing all over a classic I really don't care at all about that and anyone expecting to enjoy a fathful version of Dante's Inferno in what amounts to a a beat em up has some what strange expectations.

From the sounds of it they don't even need to develop their own engine. Just replace the textures in God of War and you're done.

hurrr uh how do we make his action sequence compelling and interesting, we have budget we have to spend on big animations because marketing like that

    and we're pushed for time

how can we make this area of fleshy bone stuff interesting for the player? they might need to make heir health bar go back up to the top number, but we haven't thought of an elegant way to make that happen in the context of hell

ok, how about this we put health pickups in little crates and put them at the side of the path

what do you mean they wouldn't have crates in hell

Um... that looks... dull then it blew my tiny mind. And not in a good way. The book aside...

Bored narrator over stiff narration, followed by some rather bland and uninspired designs and a woman with one facial expression, a swift journey down to meet Balrog in yet another iteration then a bizarre appearence of giant penises inhabiting a pink world full of mouths and penises.

    Consider me a bit flummoxed.

I disagree. I think there will be crates in hell. And barrels. And possibly watermelons.

so get this right in the very introduction he kills death

this is how much of a badass neo-dante is, we think this will give players empowerage and incentivize them to go chop up some baddies

can i call him neo-dante? you guys don't have to use it, it's just my pet name for him
  • Deleted user 23 February 2009 15:57:16
I'm gonna make The Big Sleep: The Game.

It's a 2d sidescrolling platformer where you can rewind time and move enemies (who are zombie aliens) using telekinesis.

Marlowe will now be a robot from the future sent back to save mankind from the 400ft Bionic Mutant General Sternwood.

Might as well just call it Deity of Conflict and try milking Microsoft for some sort of exclusivity deal.

Sadly it's pretty much the same modus operandi as Dead Space but actually outdoes Dead Space by having even fewer ideas to call its own. EA calls it pushing forward with innovative new I.P. but back when everybody was coding Space Invaders knock offs for the Spectrum and C64 it was called cloning.

The Z-Axis is another thing that wasn't in the original source.

I followed it up with VAGINA DENTATA. The idea of it being a game completely passed me by at that point.

    @gremmi - I'm going to frame that.

edit - out of "curiosity" I paused that last frame. There's an anus belching brown smoke, two toothed cocks fighting over some legs, what appears to be brains all over the floor in a gully filled with mucus and bile and some spiky things with nostrils and toothed vaginas gaping all over them. Oh and an eyeball.

I imagine hell would be more like a real-life version of the film "Mamma Mia".

Hell would be being locked in a room with a games console that only had THQ shovelware on it.
