Confirmed: Webber to Porsche next year. Hopefully Kimi will replace him and kick Vettel's arse ;)
That seems like a massive step down for Webber. Was 'the boot' in his future, or is he really that unhappy?

Publically RB had said Webber could have a seat if he wanted it.

Statement of intent from Porsche. Webber is a top draw driver.

Maybe he just realises there is more to life than F1, it seems more and more that those in F1 can't think beyond it.

I'm looking forward to reading his autobiography when the dust has settled and he opens up about his time with Red Bull in recent seasons.

Le Mans-style Porsche. Whatever that championship is actually called.

    ELMS.

It's actually a smart move I think. The endurance series are strengthening right now with the consolidations of the american series and moves to intertwine the ALMS and ELMS plus there's the FIA WEC or whatever?

With all that going on it should attract more marques and be the foundation of a strong set of series going forward from 2014

Mark's got a bit of history with Porsche and it would be a good change of pace outside the car.

The cars themselves are still immensely quick and leading the return of Porsche to LMS racing is a great thing to do.

Am quite looking forward to it. I think they've got a real shot of beating Audi next year.

I think RedBull will hire a patsy driver, for a quiet life.

Unless Vettel bogs off to Ferrari of course.

Vettel and Raikkonen are friends so I really wouldn't be surprised to see Mr Icy end up there.

Ricciardo has been decent, why wouldn't they use him?

Dunno if RB would want to go with a rookie if they lost Vettel. Granted, they brought up Vettel from rookie status, but they were a two-bit team recently called Jaguar back then.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Tickets for Silverstone are going to be sold on the day for the first time in something like nine years.

I was going to give it a miss this year but with the weather looking decent I caved and brought a weekend ticket yesterday. Time to make the most of decent sounding engines before next season.

It'll be mint to see Webber in the WEC next year. The format doesn't lend itself to easy viewing, but the LMP1s are super cool IMO and if anyone can hit the ground running it's Porsche.

Webber finally being confirmed at Porsche is great news. It gives the WEC a headline driver that even casual motorsport fans will have heard of, and he's probably better suited to the slow burning strategy and long game of endurance racing.

It'll be interesting to see if he turns up at the Daytona 24 or Sebring in a GT just to get some practice in.

While he may not be the team managements choice, i cant see Dietrich looking beyond Kimi. He would certainly enhance the red bull brand, and in the past he's always promoted equality between Mark and Seb.

Can't decide what to make of Webber, is he leaving with his head held high after 5 years of keeping Vettel on his toes, or is he leaving as an underachiever who really should have won a title.

He really should have won in 2010, but a great career overall. I really look forward to him in the lmp1 cars, particularly at Le Mans next year

I wonder how many more points he would've scored if F1 had rolling starts.

That's the dilemma. One more DC and Seb might go. Promote a junior and risk no decent lead driver if Seb should leave next year, or get top quality in now and probably ensure Seb will go anyway. It's tough at the top.

Feel sorry for everyone that paid 65 for a ticket to see practice today. 15 minutes, and 11 drivers, is all they got to see.

Eddie Jordan reckons Hulkenberg to Red Bull is nailed on, with Vettel to Ferrari in 2015.

@elephantjuice with Alonso staying at Ferrari in 2015 too? Kimi said in an interview that he is talking to RB at the moment, so I think RB have a lot of options available, including presumably Hulkenburg and the Toro Rosso drivers. Personally I think Kimi to RB is most likely as he's mates with Vettel and can be trusted to get wins/podiums.
