he has in flashes so far this season, but don't fall into the same trap as mclaren seem to have done with perez ;)

exciting race. But yeah share concerns over the DRS. mainly the double zones. Poor pole sitter of any race doesn;t stand a chance as everyone gets to use but him. Hamilton got pretty fucked by it.

Ferrari, red bull and kimi looking quick. Mercs a little bit behind. But certainly encouraging.

Good start to the season. Getting tense already.
I felt sad for hamilton then, the lap before he'd just pushed to a 1.x second gap as well. obviously something went wrong on lap 3, or the ferrari's were just toying with him

Ricciardo looked great today but he'll need a good few races in a row to stake a claim for a RB seat.

Quite a gap between Kimi and Grosjean today, wonder if it's just a gulf in class or something else, they weren't so far apart last year (well, when Roman could keep it on the road past the opening lap!).

Perez starting to look out of his depth at McLaren IMO.

Why didn't Webber start 17th instead of at the back? I get that he couldn't provide a fuel sample from Q2, but his Q1 time should have stood as he would have qualified there if he hadn't even left the garage in Q2.

They started him from the pits so they could put him a new gearbox in and adjust his set up so he had more speed on the straights as opposed to Red bull's usual setup which focuses on carrying more speed through the corners.

yes but if you make setup changes (apart from a handful of extremely limited ones) you have to start from the pits

Yeah there was precedent from Hamilton but I still think it should just have been the run that was invalid, doesn't make sense to nullify Q1 results.

Talking of folks out of their depth. How long before Marussia out qualify Williams and really twist the knife on their dismal display?

how far did they finish behind today? I saw on the timing screen at the end that they were the first team not on the lead lap, and that williams were on the verge of being lapped, but not what the time back was.

I can't seem to find anything other than '+1 lap' but Bianchi's fastest lap was only 5 tenths off Maldonado, although granted that doesn't tell us anything about race pace. I really wouldn't be shocked to see Bianchi do something special come Monaco.

yeah i'm glad he's shining. I remember seeing some random karting thing he was in a few years ago (i think grosjean & bordais were in the same thing), and he was battering some of the more established people by what quite remarkable margins, and i've watched his progress ever since.

he seems to be about a second a lap slower to hamilton relatively, though there are a million variables in that

@shamblemonkee I think it's just tilke tracks, I just find myself switching off. Last few laps were decent but other than that...meh

Ok race, nothing to write home about. The Chinese track as wide as a motorway complete with dump ying-yang section has never been all that interesting. It's up there with the equally dull Dubai circuit.

I take it you mean Button?

Anyway, results are up on the gppredictor site. Damn lucky to get the points I got this time, thanks to putting Alonso for 1st. Bit fucked by three of my selection retiring, but that seems to be par for the course this season so far. And damn, if Vettel had made that overtake I'd have got 5 extra points.

Cracking race today, but for the most part I would've been fucked without Ben and Dave working out the gaps for me. Really impressed by Ben Edwards - wasn't that keen on him two races ago, but he was easily the driver of the race for me today.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Points are up. You are 6th, which is very good!

The Stars with 10, 20, 30, 60 etc. listed under them are the bonus points (if you follow the above link). Mouseover them for an explanation. 10 for getting pole right, for example.

Regarding the 'not real racing' argument, for me the biggest change in that regard at least since the sport became aero-bound is Rule 20.3. No idea how long the rule's been in the books, but my recollections of great racing in F1 almost all involve some pretty dastardly defending, by today's standards.

Interesting documentary and topical considering Sir Stirlings rather old fashioned comments.

despite correctly predicting all the drivers on the podium (except not in the correct order) I had a shocking weekend in the Castrol predictor thing. :(

    I feel all Mark Webber.

    Wahey. \o/

Not bad considering I don't fully understand the rules.

Is there a prize for this? I haven't played a Fantasy anything game since I won the trip to New York in the Eurogamer World Cup Fantasy Football game about 6(ish) years ago. I got a little bit obsessive on that. The reward was the holiday, but I probably spent hours deliberating over exactly what transfer to make when, and decided I needed to go cold turkey for a while.
