    The sale hasn't been as good as previous years, but I've still got

    For a total of less than 20 quid.

    I'm pretty happy with the sales. Between Steam, GMG and Gamersgate I managed to get:

    Sleeping Dogs
    Dead Island GOTY
    Fallout 3 GOTY
    Darksiders
    SR3 GOTY
    The Last Remnant
    The Witcher 2
    Race 07
    The Binding Of Isaac
    Driver: SF
    Chivalry: MW
    Metro 2033
    Mount & Blade (plus Warband)
    Hitman: Blood Money

    For a total of about £30

    But I'm guessing if I'd had my gaming PC ready at the start of last year, I probably would have already bought most of these, so I probably wouldn't have done quite so well.

    yes it's a nice game, i'm playing it right now. Single player is a little boring, you just go back and forth doing quests and killing zombies on the way (usually kicking them to preserve your weapons)to level up, because the quest says so or for fun... the good moments come when you own a powerful weapon and litres of quartered zombies' blood cover the screen. Never tried coop, i bought it to play with a friend but he didn't even install it... bet it's twice the fun. One thing I really don't like is that the zombies level up with you, so you never really dominate them

    I have managed to refrain from buying anything in this Steam sale (my backlog is ridiculous), but I am tempted to buy the first two Max Payne games as I have never played them and can get both for under £3. I also really enjoyed MP3

    Has anyone played them recently and can advise how they stand up these days?

    Hmm, sounds interesting... I might be tempted. Even if it's a bit repetitive it's not like I'll have spent much money on it really.

    Can anyone tell me what's the best max payne 3 dlc, ie what maps packs are best? Tried googling but couldn't find much opinion on them.

    Don't know about MP3 dlc's but i've played (for the fourth or fifth time, i think) the first two games right after i've finished the third and i've loved them as always; they're both very good games and they'll always be... sure the gameplay isn't as sophisticated as MP3, but it was very good for the times and keeps being so... also, the plot, the comics and max's thoughts are great (in max payne 3 i found his metaphors quite annoying instead of... hardboiled(don't know if you can say "hardboiled metaphor" but, well... whatever xD)

    @Armoured_Bear not worth it for me.
    I bought them, looked nice and got bored of the games very quickly.

    Plenty of games you could put on high specs and show off the card that are more fun.

    I haven't played Crysis 2, but Crysis + Warhead are worth a tenner alone. You really need to get them both though, it's a more complete experience that way.

    Never got crysis or warhead to work after buying them in the summer sale. Just a black screen. (gtx 570) Always wanted to try it.

    Drivers ? Both work fine on my GTX 570.

    Updated to the newest one not long ago. I remember the first time I booted it up I had to sign up to something (punkbuster? Can't remember) and that failed. Ever since then I just get a black screen. Researched it and others have the same issue.

    Brilliant games. I don't think there's anything quite like the Max Payne games and as such they still stand-up brilliantly.

    Bought the 3rd one this sale, so looking forward to getting stuck in soon.

    Hmm between Steam, GMG and GOG i've bought:
    Planescape Torment- one of the best games ever
    Doom 3 BFG Edition
    Hotline Miami
    Alpha Protocol
    Saints Row 3 Season Pass
    Last Remnant
    Prince of Persia
    Unmechanical
    Far Cry 1,2 and 3- pricing error on a Gamestop's site (cost me a fiver, woo)

    Been a good haul, Steam's prices have actually generally been pretty meh for most games, thankfully.
    Now I have over 200 steam games, my new years resolution is that I won't buy any more games this year... with the exception of the new Amnesia and Bioshock Infinite when they're released ;)

    Crysis is less than 10 hours long, it's worth playing through. Still a beautiful game.

    Hi all, I have an asus n55sl available for £450,
    It has the NVIDIA 635m in it, and i5 and 6gb ram! Plays most games on high to medium... Anyone interested?

    I was feeling worried that I'd bought the Endless Space upgrade for nothing, as I was bound to buy something else in the Steam sale to get that badge.

    Steam hauls:
    That £1 Endless Space Admiral -> Emperor upgrade

    ...

    Can't fault the client, but what a poor year for Steam prices, combined with a complete lack of events. Hopefully 2013 will be more like 2011.

    I hope I'm not naming them just because they were the most recent great deals, but I can't think of any better deals I've had through the year, so my best download bargains of 2012:
    Bethesda pack for £17 (Dishonored, Skyrim and all the rest)
    Borderlands 2 for £x (apparently free, thanks Gamersgate!)
    Far Cry pack for £5.

    2013 resolution: chastise people for saying "digital" when they mean "download" more often. Also: I've got ALL of the games now. Time to STOP SHOPPING! :mad:

    I really don't get why people think this sale was so bad. Can someone give me some examples of what they found so pricey other than say Far Cry 3?!

    XCOM, Spec Ops: The Line, Civ V: Gods & Kings, Borderlands 2, The Last Remnant, The Darkness II, Doom 3 BFG Edition, Dishonored, Dark Souls, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed 3, Endless Space, Torchlight II, every other game I can think of... cheaper elsewhere or as cheap/cheaper in previous Steam sales.

    Games that were NOT pricey on Steam: that was a good price for the Tomb Raider collection. The Dawn of War franchise pack was a very good price, as well. Ummm... oh, decent Witcher/Witcher 2 price, too. :) Err... any others? (Bear in mind that I check Steam for the best prices in general (to share with people) rather than just buying for myself, so it's possible that I examine the prices more broadly than some)

    Edit: added a few more games into the opening sentence, just in case ;)
