I picked up Sonic Generations from Green Man Gaming - it's a bargain! For some reason it won't play on my TV though, it decides that I need to reconfigure the game but won't accept any resolution I choose. I can play it fine on my PC monitor... odd... not the end of the world and still well worth the money.

Me too. Amazon US, GMG and Gamersgate have generally had better deals. I miss the "Steam Event" shenanigans:(

yea I much preferred the summer sale with all the packs of games. There just seemed to be more variety. This sale doesn't seem very interesting. My wallet is very thankful for that though.

I agree. There is one game on my wishlist that isn't even on sale.

The Last Remnant is cheap on gamersgate atm. With the IAMANELDERGEEK code giving you 5% off. Not on everyone's list, I know. But another one I missed out on consoles and as its cheap and steam, can't go wrong really.

can't recommend GTR 2 unfortunately as due to licensing issues the porsches and ferraris are all blacked out, which is half the pack. Looks stupid and crap and will just reinstall my old disc if I can find it.

    What a piss take.
Never heard of it but having now read up on it, I really want it.

Would have no chance of playing it on my aging Laptop though.

Out of interest...what's the 'mouse to steer' like to control? A review suggested that it was a good control method for those without a wheel.
Dunno mate, never tried it, sounds interesting. Works with a 360 pad so never thought to try heheh.

Deus ex:hr is 3.79 on steam.
If you haven't played it that is an absolute bargain.

I really enjoyed it, it's a very competent platformer. It's good for nostalgia, so you lose a little when they start doing levels from Sonic 2006, but for the most part I really enjoyed it. The 3D levels are better than the 2D ones, the latter suffering from the camera being too close and just passable level design. The 3D levels are almost all brilliant. If you've played the Mega Drive Sonic games (and who hasn't), then there's plenty to enjoy.
Is this a mispost? This is the steam sale thread, not the unpopular opinions one :)

Did Valve give away DOTA 2 or something? Steam says I already own it but I've definitely not purchased it.

I had 2 keys for the beta a while back (I gave one of them away on the charity thread), used it but didn't get the time to download it. But I just checked and apparently I have it as well...

Hmm bought Terraria but it refuses to run. Get a window full of errors. Tried a restart as that usually works but same thing. Anyone had the same problem?

I had problems with some error messages. Turns out I hadn't installed the .NET framework. Not that it'll be your issue this time, but it's worth a look. This thing. If you've already got it then by all means ignore the heck out of me :)

The amazon best of 2012 with $5 off deal is on.

Tempted to get hotline Miami for $2.50. Everything else is a bit overpriced.

Far cry 3 for 32 dollars is pretty good, a lot better than the 37 euros steam was asking for.

Amazon UK has the PC version for 19.99 with free delivery which is pretty good, you'll just have to wait a couple of days for it.

You can buy a key for Far Cry 3 for around 15-16 on line.

I've explained this before :-) Once you've been through one Steam sale following ones aren't very interesting at all because it tends to be the same pool of games with the odd newish thing throw in with fuck all of a discount.

Some guy on the Something Awful forums did up a 6x6 Steam-sales-games-bingo thing at the start of the sale and maybe two of the squares are all that's left that haven't been hit yet.

Hadn't noticed. But given the state of the dollar, that Amazon.com deal is still slightly cheaper, especially if your country is not covered by Amazon.co.uk's strangely erratic free delivery policies (in which case, it's actually much cheaper).

The Secret World for $13 is also tempting, provided you don't have to download the thing from Amazon itself.

Looks like it'll tailored towards playing with a pad. Really need to get that software that enables dual shock use.

I use a Microsoft wireless dongle, works great and most games are setup for the Xbox controller. You really should get used to keyboard and mouse though as there is no comparison. 3rd Person shooters or some indie games on joy pad everything else is better with mouse and keyboard.

I'm really tempted by Dead Island again, despite the so-so reviews I've read. It just looks fun! Does it approach being any decent on your own though?

It's best in coop, but it's good on your own too.
