Hm, the queues are back? Interesting. One problem to another. To be honest, as long as it goes down fairly quick, I'd rather be on a heavy server than a ghost town.

I believe the sent all EU PVP servers to Tomb of Freedon Nadd, should be fun when 1.3 hits with ranked warzones.

re-downloading this now. Any early impressions of 1.3 yet? Is it a significant improvement?

I'm hoping the new dungeon finder will at least prevent the need to sit in stations spamming chat to look for groups.

@darkmorgado I haven't tried it on the PTS and it's only going live later today. Will give it a go this evening.

    Is this f2p yet?

Well, the group finder works. Just got in to a flashpoint I've been waiting ages to play in about 10-15 mins. With the server transfers and the new update it's back to being interesting again. I wouldn't expect F2P soon, but I've been wrong before.

Aye I had a quick look last night though I didn't have time to play, the new group finder will make life a lot easier if it's a quiet night (though Nightmare Lands is quite busy, group finder had a group in one second) plus the black hole tokens will be very handy indeed as a daily reward.

Took a quick peek at the new augment crafting, the kits are expensive on the GTN but it's easy enough to get the injectors for them and the credit costs don't look too bad.

Main mess up is with the legacy system. The new unlocks are specific to each character rather than account wide and about half of them are utterly useless to a level 50.

@Petrarch Yeah, there seems to be a lot of annoyance at the new Lecacy stuff. Most of it is for levelling characters though so would be useless to 50s. Only problem is the credit sink. I think they expect your lvl50 to mail the creds to the lower characters for them to unlock the XP boosts for faster progression. Bit daft though still.

Downloaded. Loaded up... 1543 in the queue... motherfu... watch TV and do a few jobs. One hour thirty ish later in I go. Skill points refunded... not really sure why but no matter. Crash to desktop. 784 in queue... sod it. Next game.

No matter. Technically I've played my six months, nearly, so I'm done with it. Good enough for one play through on each side, but there's just not enough to encourage me to sit in a queue.

Roll on Planetside 2. That's my kind of MMO from now on.

I've just started playing this with the PC Gamer guild.

Only level 16 so early days but really enjoying it. I've not played an MMO for years, I did most of TBC content for WoW and then quit never to return but this seems great.

I know a lot of people got fed up with the he but perhaps I'm benefitting from joining the party late with some improvements already patched in - group finder especially.

This goes F2P quite soon then. That didn't take too long at all. Hopefully, if it's like STO I get to keep all 'unlocked' features if I quit paying for it after it changes over.

Sub numbers should be coming out today too, wonder how many there are left.

It'd be funny to be a founder and have nothing more than what the average F2P player had and by funny I mean what you'd expect of EA.

The table of features that show frees have restricted access to space missions sounds like they've done well out of that particular aspect of the game.

    This space left intentionally blank.

@Whizzo Don't say that! It better not be the case. I payed dammit! :-)

Anyway, when it goes F2P should we try a new EG guild. I'll be GM :-P

They didn't release any hard numbers, but indicated that they dropped below a million and were above 500K. So probably 600-750K subscribers left a 550K drop in 3 months.

Iíve stopped playing but this leaves a really bitter taste in the mouth still.

Objectively, I guess it was obvious. But... I canít help but feel Bioware and EA both have pissed on, from a great height, what should have been one of the best games ever. Why couldnít they do this the justice it deserved*?

I tell you. Itís going to be a cold day in hell before I pick up a premium MMO in the first months from now on. This premium release then suddenly go free bullshit pisses me off. It's not a business model - it's bloody abuse of your fans.

*The game is fine, if surprisingly shallow once you hit the cap. My issue is mostly with the way they run it.

Okay we all paid 30-40 for this 7 months ago because......
  • Deleted user 1 August 2012 10:01:10
All games reduce in price massively and quickly; this was predicted from the start; you paid it because you wanted the latest thing as soon as it became available and paid the premium for it.

We got caught up in the hype, I'm also regretting buying a two month subs card from GAME to use up my points before they looked like they were going pop.

...we'd been promised a totally different MMO experience to WoW and it is one of the best loved IPs on the planet.

They lied about the first and hopelessly misunderstood the second.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

I still like it..sort of. I may have Stockholm Syndrome with it now though. It certainly is best played with friends but, even with the group finder, it can still be difficult to get a raid going, especially if you're DPS.

The only thing that irks me about all this is the vultures that have been circling for months to celebrate it going F2P. "Called it". "Told you! ROFLLOLOLOL". If you don't like it fair enough, but some people have been *so* desperate for it to fall on it's face so they can glean some small satisfaction.

I really enjoyed it. It just wasn't worth a monthly sub. Should have been a single player with coop from day 1.

Really, its embarrassing how this game has turned out. With an IP like Star Wars and the amount of money that was spent on it, you'd expect far better than this. Lets face it, what we got was a game that even 2-3 years ago would be bordering on dated, both in terms of its gameplay mechanics AND graphics. Nevermind ey.
