I must apologise to Darksiders, I'm afraid I'd claimed it was mediocre...before even seeing it :(

I'd assumed because it was, well, threadless that it would be shite, looks fun from the videos though.

It's the Zelda comparisons that have me interested in this one.

Well, THQ's own thread got locked (as it rightly should), but I think there's still a fraction of it worth reposting. The following link is a very interesting 9 minute walkthrough done for/by IGN.

Looks very interesting. Far more interesting than I expected.

We noticed there was already a thread on this game, but since the name's changed to just 'Darksiders' and given the wealth of new info and the amount of time since the last post (until now), thought a new thread was warranted. Certainly didn't mean to upset forum etiquette, and more than happy to keep this as the official thread!

Just a round up of other impressions that hit today:

I didn't know about the name change, though I think this thread is still fine. Searching for 'Darksiders' still brings it up so I see no reason for a new thread.

Good to see a bit more of Darksiders, I think the recent scarcity of information on the game is why this thread has been dead for so long.

This has shot pretty much to the top of my most wanted, based on the previews and that trailer it looks right up my street, God of War style action but with that Soul Reaver/Castlevania type of exploration, cannot wait.

That video is great although I am not sure why it is labeled as a PS3 walkthrough when context buttons would suggest he is definatley playing the 360 version.

It seems to steal the Zelda do a dungeon and use the new weapon to defeat the boss method which is a brilliant steal IMO.

    The animation looks fantastic too.

    Mark Hamill is the Watcher

International release dates confirmed. Look for it, in early January. And there's more. Destructoid found the boxart, which I hope is US only.

A little surprised you guys aren't demoing the game at the Expos.

I suppose having a release date in January changes things somewhat but Bayonetta, God of War and Dantes Inferno are all there and I'd argue that they're all pretty close competitors to this.

IGN have posted up a Video Preview. There's a good amount of footage from the game, that they describe as an action game, with aspects of Metroid Prime (platform/exploring the likely influences).

It doesn't look half bad. The one thing that surprised me, for the way that War is portrayed (fascinating fact: his horse is called Ruin) is how light in terms of weight he comes across as. From the illustrations, I expected War to put across more of a presence.

    Possibly a new trailer.

I've seen the achievements for the game now but I probably shouldn't link to them as they are on a rival site?

We've got the usual story based achievements plus a couple of fun ones like "River of Blood" for shedding 3000 gallons of demon blood and - this one might be a bit harder to get - "Open Air Parking" for taking out a helicopter with a car! :)

There's an exclusive Darksiders interview here with Joe Mad.
The game is looking very interesting, with the video showing you some of the weapons you can use such as a horn to knock your enemies back, which is a bit different to the usual weaponry you would expect!
"Every character is huge, the weapons are huge, the monsters are huge!"

The second part to the Joe Mad interview is now up, showing some of his artwork along with how the design of the character War has evolved.

Hey Mr THQInsider, is there any chance this'll be getting a demo?

I notice they have started advertising this on the Sci/Fi channel which seems odd given its ages until its released. It's a CGI fest of course with no visable game play.

Well its about a month and a half until release which seems pretty early to me. If it were out before Christmas it might make some sense as an advert designed to get it bought as a present but with the January release date that obviously does not fit.

Oh well I am sure it makes sense to advertising types.

Given the title I associate this game with a certain god warrior... Darksided!

Perhaps THQ could get her to endorse the game?

There's no news yet of a demo unfortunately!

As to when it's released, it's out in Europe on the 8th January and 4th January for the US, however on the THQ site it does say the 7th January, so it looks like there is some slight confusion.

The Horseman's Road video is now out..

Meet Vulgrim, a demon merchant who you can make bargains with, for different abilities and weapons - all looking pretty good, especially the Gates which you can force to open for you!

Also some more mention about treasures hidden around the ruined cities - for those who can get at them - as you'll need various abilities and tools to get there!

Part 2 - Wars Arsenal shows you the Chaos Eater and how certain enemies require different ways to be killed, from brute force to being torn out of the sky. :)

Don't know if anyone has spotted this yet but there's a nice comp running on Deviant Art for all you artistic types :)
All the rules and how to enter are over on the Deviant site http://news.deviantart.com/article/100452/ plus Joe Mad will be picking the winners :D
