Possibly. I seem to remember the checkpointing in both the first two games wasn't great.

Registered 6 years agoI think ME2 might actually be alright - all the missions are about 25-50 minutes each, so you can fit in an "episode" a day with reasonably well-established closure.
Of course, it depends on your willpower to resist one... more... mission! Scan one... more... planet! -

Registered 8 years agoSo I was just about to play 'Arrival' in preparation of getting the new game... but how do I 'activate' it, exactly? I've download it and loaded up my old save game but the mission isn't appearing in my logs or making itself known to me in any way. Not sure what I'm supposed to do!
I r fool.
EDIT: Yes, I am a fool... for some reason I had to restart the game, even though my save wasn't loaded when I downloaded the DLC anyway. Odd, but it's working now!

Past the first hour I didn’t find it to be very engaging, just a set of missions with not much tying them into the overall story. I was near the end before I realized that was the story.
As for Mass Effect 3, I finished that on Wednesday and I am still recovering from the ending. It has spoilt most of my free time since. The gameplay parts weren’t great, exploring the maps I found to be tedious, the mission system was very poor, the loading is bad and I don’t know where the music was most of the time. Having said that, I really enjoyed the first few hours and there were other good bits as well. -

Registered 3 years agoI have to agree with Darth - in terms of story motivation, there's really very little in ME2. It does all come together and can be quite compelling, but personally the whole point of the game is about something else entirely.
It's a great game although ME1 just shades it IMO. Sadly, no, I don't know any mods though - I just played with everything turned up to 11 and thought it looked fine. -

Registered 6 years ago...on the other hand, ME2 has some of the best 'small' story-telling in the trilogy with a final mission which is an absolute highlight of the series.
Either way, in no way is this debate going to help anyone find higher res textures... -

Registered 8 years agoI loved Mass Effect 1. Started slower and I think didn’t reach the level of immersion I felt in KOTOR but there were some really good moments, I loved some of the music as well. I think Mass Effect was much better than Mass Effect 2. -

Yes I am. Don't trust your children to anyone who tells you that ME2 is better than ME1.

Registered 6 years agoME2 was a new game, at least. ME1 was the third KotOR-template game we'd had. -

I'd largely agree with that, I never understood the hate for the lifts. There was always going to have to be a loading screen of some kind, much better that they hide it behind a fake elevator ride interspersed with mildly entertaining inter party chatter and news reports.
