    Iím tempted to ban you for saying this.

    Your post does nothing but paint a target on yourself and shout ďabuse meĒ. I donít know how many times you have to be warned about this, but itís this kind of thing which is the reason why you are at the heart of flame wars on a daily basis.

    Itís pathetic.

    And who is "supposed to" have nukes? Its not like God handed us a bunch of nuclear warheads one day, and told us that only the 3 most popular countries could have some.

    No - but treating laws like they ARE written by God (i.e. as "the truth") *is* the MO of morons. Not saying that Iran isn't being a dick for developing nuclear weapons, but pretending that the NPT is some sort of universal code of conduct is retarded.

    Well Israel has nukes for a rather good reason - they've been attacked numerous times by numerous foes with the express intention of being wiped off the map. Sure, they may not be above board or legal but it's an understandable position for them to take. Notice how attacks on Israel moved to terrorist since their nukes came online.

    Iran, on the other hand, has been developing nukes long before anyone thought the US or any other western nation would launch a ground war in the ME. The nature of their government, even excluding their longstanding and extremely well documented support of international terrorism, makes them a less than ideal nation to posses nuclear weapons.

    @MD - sure Iran is not alone in breaking international demands in the region, but the impact of their intentions has far graver possibilities than even an invasion of Iraq. The threats to invade or bomb are there because Iran refuses to stop developing nuclear weapons. It's not a chicken and egg position here. Also, it's not just teh evil US and Jewz who are against the idea - find a single ME country who wants Iran to have nukes and I'll give you a chocolate cupcake :)

    @ecosse - nuthin

    That wasn't my point. I was saying its a bit rich for the US to get on Iran's back for developing nukes illegally when they've been tolerating Israel doing it for years.

    As for whether it's understandable that Isreal do this, well, I can see the arguement, but I think Iran can argue by a very similar token that they need the nukes to protect themselves from Israel, which is in fact the line they are taking.

    I'm not sure we actually disagree on this. :)

    My point was simply that whether a given country having nukes is "legal" or "illegal" is solely the product of a treaty written up by a random collection of countries which, as you point out, isn't exactly consistent in its condemnation of new nuke-builders.
