Registered 9 years agoI really liked Chrono Trigger. Will this e a new game, a re skinned game or a digital comic book?If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

"Awesome news on the Chrono Trigger front. Why didn't they just scan the whole article though? Is it a FFIII/IV-style 3D remake, or a port? It's hard to tell from that image.
Great news though. As if I needed a reason to beat Chrono Trigger for the 50th time."

I'm hoping they don't mess with the original graphics too much. Perhaps just increase the clarity in the same way that Children of Mana did. -

This was actually hinted at in a Nintendo Power interview the other month, so it's not too surprising. -

Registered 8 years agoSo, supposedly it's a cleaned-up port, a bit like when they put the NES FF games on the GBA, and -not- a 3D remake ala FFIII and IV.

ust in case that tiny snippet from Shonen Jump magazine and a countdown site wasn't enough confirmation for you doubting Thomases, Square Enix just pumped out a press release detailing its ZOMG MEGATON DS version of Chrono Trigger.

Judging by this, the DS iteration will look and sound very much like the SNES game -- Akira Toriyama's artwork will make the jump, for example, as will Yasunori Mitsuda's musical score. It's also being tweaked here and there to suit the DS's feature-set, so there'll be full touchscreen functionality, dual screen presentation, and most intriguingly, a Wireless Play mode, the details of which have yet to be fleshed out. Oh, and there's a brand new dungeon planned as well. Not exactly a straight port, then, but also not a dramatic remake.
And here's the best bit: the game will be hitting North America this Holiday season. Better get saving. -
As great as CT is, I'd have much rather had a proper sequel. Where's Chrono Break, you bastards? -

Registered 9 years agoI played this on an emulator a couple of years back. Never managed to finish it, but it was very enjoyable - particularly liked the court bit.

Registered 7 years agoI tried playing Chrono Trigger a while back, but found it very difficult to get into. I pretty much gave up while wandering through some dull post-apocalyptic landscape. Given all the love I can only assume I didn't get to see the good bits. I can see me buying this and having it sit on the shelf forever. -

Registered 9 years agoSame here, it was the music that made me want to play it. The overworld and forest theme early on did it for me.

Registered 8 years agoSquare trailers are always so poor. 99% cutscenes or drawings and 1% actual game footage. -
So it is the SNES version. It's identical. Super-disappointing. They could've at least remixed the music.
