Just got to the end of Season 3 (watched the whole season in a couple of days), such a good ending imo. Straight into Season 4 once I download it!

The bit with the lawnmower is still one of the greatest things ever.

Just started Season 1 again as the missus is -amazingly - actually interested in watching it. IT has got met thinking about Betty and her shaky hand condition thing, what ever happened to that?

It was a manifestation of stress (because she was suspicious of Don's infidelity), which was dealt with by her visting the psychiatrist for an extended period and various other things.

I get that but you see one visit to the doctor which looks like an emerging story line, finished off with the rather nasty call to the doctor by Don. Then nothing. Felt a bit half arsed.

Eh? You see her with the shrink for most of the season!

And her underlying concern is that she suspects Don is cheating on her, which is pretty much the dominant focus of their time together for the first three seasons...

Em, most of the season? That isn't true.

And actually there is a lot more to it than her suspicion of Don cheating on her. She suffers from extreme emotional immaturity.

Regardless, I thought it was a bit half arsed. Looked like the condition was going to be something to build upon, instead it is introduced and extinguished it in one episode.

Oh come on, that's just wholesale quoting from an episode!

She's perfectly emotionally mature. She seeks attention because she is suffering from a deficit of it due to Don's prolonged absences as well as feeling like she doesn't have his attention due to his infidelity.

    It wasn't just one episode.

It was more a prelude to their marriage problems, which have infused the first three seasons.

You said you see her with the shrink most of the season. That is rubbish.

"It was more a prelude to their marriage problems, which have infused the first three seasons."

Nah, there was more to it than that but they abandoned it for whatever reason. But arsed continuing, it is sunny outside.

Ace. I've just started re-watching from the beginning, so I should be finishing season 4 in time for 5 to start.

I watched The Suitcase again last night, just on its own (I'm not re-waching the entire series or anything).

It's a brilliant episode, a real masterclass in how to write a compelling "bottle" episode. Don Draper is such a fascinating character, and the way that they date the episodes with references to real-life historical events (such as the Clay/Liston fight) never feels gimmicky or contrived.

Hats off to Matt Weiner, he really created one of the all-time shows here.

    Just been re-watching series 4.

Really is by far the best thing on TV. The attention to detail is incredible throughout every aspect of the production. The script, the sets, the costumes. It's top drawer. Makes the other things I'm watching at the moment like Luck and Boardwalk Empire seem really quite trashy in comparison.

Also it really improves with re-watching.

I see the first episode is now available at your usual outlets - anyone got any idea of whether there will be an HD version appearing?

    Cheers.

Indeed, but I was wondering for those of us who don't have Sky HD? ^^

Can't wait to get home and watch this whilst breaking the back of a serious mountain of ironing!

F1 and Mad Men. Perfect evening in!

I can't tell whether or not you're being facetious or not Kalel :D

Maybe I should do a better job of explaining exactly what I'm asking:

Some of the shows I follow such as Spartacus and Justified, have torrents for standard def, then HD versions come out a few hours later - I was just wondering whether anyone knew this to be the case for Mad Men also, cheers.

Yeah, I am purposely being a bit of a dick about it.

Not being funny, but I'd say it's fairly obvious that a)there will be HD versions of this to download at some point, and b)this isn't really the place to be asking about sourcing illegal torrents.
