Thats what i'm trying to figure out - Gearbox will either a) Flat out deny that the game is shit, have a go at the journalists and inform everyone that the game is, in fact, "awesome" or b) They'll blame Timegate, which will probably cause them to shut down.

Like you say though, how Gearbox played this and said "Yes, this is the game we want to release!" is beyond me.....

If memory serves the original retail copies don't work on W7, but they rejigged it a bit a couple of years ago to make it work with modern OSs. You can get it for £2.99 on Steam, it may well be available on GoG as well.

You know it's a proper Aliens game when in the first 3 minutes after firing it up you use all your ammo firing at shadows, shit yourself, and then an Alien tapdances on your face. The 1999 game that is, obviously.

On an unrelated note, I only just noticed that our friend the Geriatric Alien Suicide Bomber appears to be steam powered.

    3/10 EG
    4.5/10 IGN
    6.2/10 CVG

Guess who gets paid by sponsors for good review scores, then?

Actually I think it's AVP2 I have on disc, but I will give AvP a whirl on Steam, I have credit after cancelling the preorder and I shouldn't spend it all on hats =P

Good god, the tearing and frame rate in the intro video are horrific:

Will be interesting to see what happens with the Aliens license now. First SEGA tried Rebellion, who, in my opinion did a good job but it didnt get the sales they wanted.

Now they've tried Gearbox and they have royally fucked it up - do SEGA hope for 'third time lucky' and give it to a different developer or do they just sell the license to someone else and cut their losses?

The funniest part about that review for me is that the same guy gave Halo 4 a 7/10 and criticsed it for just being more of the same old formula.

Creative Assembly bizarre as it sounds, have got a Alien game in development.

Maybe this is their masterplan to fix that!

80's? That explains it they are comparing it to a C64 game

I'm sure QA found and reported plenty of issues. Gearbox management just chose to ignore them.

Looks like they've gone one better now, it's 'outsourced'

Give the license to Frictional games (Amnesia : The Dark Descent). Or Visceral. Valve. Hell maybe even if Gearbox actually did it themselves.

So how long before Sega quietly put out a press release saying the Wii U version has been cancelled?

    This space left intentionally blank.

The 'outsourced' argument annoys me more than anything else about this. If it had been good and a hit, they'd have kept quiet about that aspect and raked in the glory as much as they could.

    Weasel management.

Tomorrow when sales are crap and they want to get those they think are 'waiting'.

I can guarantee that nobody is waiting to play this on the Wii U.

AvP runs fine on W7, I have it on one of my PCs and it had no problems with it.
