    Got to remember that most professional drivers grow up racing. They have been around speed since they were 5 years old.

    I don't think it's a lack of fear as such, it's that they have known it most of their life and know how to handle and control it.

    They have progressively moved up through the classes into faster and faster cars learning as they go along. Which is a lot different to a middle aged block getting in one with little prior racing experience, particularity in open wheel cars.

    Sure, maybe they are a little nuts, but there are more dangerous motorsports out there that make F1 look a bit like a sunday drive. Yeah it's fast, but incredibly safe these days.
