Thanks mal. It doesn't mention anything about being cable specific on the box, or are you saying that it is by virtue if the fact it doesn't have a modem? The setup does specifically mention ADSL as an alternative. It's specified for the UK market any how, and the blurb on the box says its got all that jazz - vpn, Nat, firewall, etc.
Assuming then that its not gimped as a router (in which case I def would not want it), my options are to get a separate modem and live with two boxes, or send it back and get a modem/router combi.
I might go with the former as the combi's all look quite expensive. :/
