On my phone, with my operator, you need to enter a pin-code when the phone is turned on.
I can choose either "OK" (don't enter a code) or "enter code" when the iphone boots up.
If I choose "OK" (which means, don't enter the code) the phone have no access to any network (don't work as a phone).
I have no other code as standard. The phone came with the pin code activated (as is the case with all the phones I ever bought here, in Sweden).
