Japanese gamers offered Pepsi-blue Nintendo DS

Drink some Pepsi, win a limited edition DS. Gits.

Although several EG staffers are firmly allied to that other evil black liquid Diet Coke, if we were Japanese we'd probably have to consider buying some Pepsi this coming March in order to get our names in the hat for a new Nintendo/Pepsi cross-promotion giving away a rather special-looking blue-tinted Nintendo DS.

According to a report on Game Watch, Pepsi drinkers who send in stickers from Pepsi bottles next month will be entered into a prize draw to win a special Pepsi Blue Nintendo DS, pictured here along with a rather fetching case and some Pepsi headphones.

Other prizes in the draw include Pepsi-flavoured bottle caps, tape rolls and other throwaway items adorned with Mario Bros. characters, which, although we'd be gutted to win them and miss out on the DS, are certainly unique and worthy little commemorative baubles.

You can find more pictures on Game Watch here.

Diet Coke is rank, all it tastes of is Nutra-Sweet. Diet Pepsi is the same.

Now Pepsi Max... that's a REAL diet cola.

Blerk - I reckon it's all down to familarity. I used to swear by normal "fat" Coke, and hated diet Coke, until I turned diabetic... Then because I had to drink it I got used to diet Coke. Now I love that and I can't stand the normal stuff, it's too sickly.

Are you in the UK though, Chris? It's worth bearing in mind that the muck they sell us over here as 'Diet Coke' is completely different to the 'really quite nice' version that they get in Europe and (presumably) the rest of the world. No idea why ours is different...

I went through a stage of prefering Coke Light to Diet Coke, but now I don't like it as much. Optimal Diet Coke is a 550ml bottle chilled in an open refridgerator like in shops. My closed fridge makes the coke too cold. It's all pretty much useless when not cold. 1.25l bottles taste better than 2l bottles. Fact. Glass bottle is also very tasty.

    550ml DC > Glass Bottle DC > 1.25l DC > 2l DC > 550ml CL > 1.25ml CL > cans

    Same with full-fat coke.
South African coke and German coke are a LOT nicer than UK coke.
  • ChrisOTR #6 7 years ago

Blerk - that goes to show even more that it takes all sorts - I can't STAND Coke Light, but I love our UK Diet Coke.... Personal taste is kind of odd when you think about it, as all of our bodies should have the same requirements...

"South African coke and German coke are a LOT nicer than UK coke."

    \o/

I was expecting so much more from 'Coke Light with Lemon' though. It's supposed to be Coke Light with a hint of lemon, not Lemon Light with a hint of Coke! >:|

It depends on the water right? They all mix with local water so that is probably why you get regional differences. Northern Ireland used to be the highest consumer per capita in the world IIRC so maybe you should try a can from there.

/drinks full-fat but worries about becoming diabetic
  • Blerk #9 7 years ago

Of course, Doctor Pepper is far, far superior to all brands of Coke.
  • Natalio #10 7 years ago

I'm Spanish, been living in London for 2 years. The diet Coke we had back in Spain was shit and so it's the British one.

There's a much bigger difference between 'regular' and 'diet' Cola drinks and 'regular' and 'diet' non-Cola drinks, though. Why is that?
  • tengu #13 7 years ago

I can't stand anything with caffeine in it anymore. Basically it's caffeine free diet coke or Sprite zero for me.

And 'Dr Pepper'? That shit is like drinking evil itself!
  • Blerk #14 7 years ago

    /drains another can of evil

    Ahhh!

Dr Pepper is nice, but clearly it's just flat coke ;)
  • Darkedge #17 7 years ago

Pepsi is sugary shite.. pepsi max is chemically shite.
    Coke is ok.

    and Dr Pepper rules..

but that limited edition is utter utter shit. Typical of nintendo to
    A) Go for big budget sponsorship that has very little to do with their product
    B) screw up the colour so it doesn't even match at all

    Nice one N...

"There's a much bigger difference between 'regular' and 'diet' Cola drinks and 'regular' and 'diet' non-Cola drinks, though."

I'd say there's a much bigger difference between regular Irn Bru and the diet version than there is between normal and diet coke.

Regular Irn Bru is one of the best mixers *and* hangover drinks ever invented. Diet Irn Bru is a vile tastelesss 'thing'...

Keep in mind that diet sodas don't taste of "Nutra-Sweet" - that's just the marketing name. The actual artificial sweetener is called Aspartam.

That said, I agree Pepsi Max is the only drinkable "plastic soda". Aspartam should only be used by diabetics; unless I remember things wrong, at least one "non-sugar" sweetener (aspartam or sorbitol) tricks the glands of non-diabetics into producing insulin, thus making you hungry. How "diet" is that?

As for tasting the same, try American Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Both taste of the very dominant corn syrup threy are so fond of using.

Didn't Britney have a big contract with Pepsi a while back?

Pepsi seem to go for the biggest current names, the freshest talent. I find the fact that they're now rubbing shoulders with Nintendo quite good news.

Of course, I don't drink Pepsi. But I don't drink Coca Cola either. Actually, I haven't had a proper fizzy drink for nigh on two months... miss Vanilla Coke tho. God, that stuff was addictive.

Wow, a DS article with 25 posts and not 1 of them a DS/PSP war!?!?

Though it has decended into a diet/normal war :)

/just for the record dont like diet coke, dont really like Pepsi and id rather have a Vimto any day!
  • Whizzo #22 7 years ago

Don't even think about trying the Pepsi Max with Lemon & Lime, Satan himself concocted that foul drink.

My favourite fizzy drink is Bouncy, Bubble Beverage (The Mandatory Drink of Choice!) as it's the only one I'm security cleared to consume.

All Fizzy drinks made by faceless corporate American companies are the Devils Spunk.

Get Bizzy with the Fizzy and stick to Soda Stream!!
  • Murray #26 7 years ago

Uuuuh, but my dear gents, here in Denmark we have tha ultimate soda:
Jolly Cola. slogan: Say Jolly to your coke (right, that was shite i know, but indeed a very fine coke)
  • Lutz #27 7 years ago

  • tonkei #28 7 years ago

Ever think that people might be more worried about rotting their teeth out with 18 shovels of sugar per can as opposed to needing to lose weight, fael?

There's a whole new generation, they're dancing in the aisles, they're grabbing magic on the ru-uh-uh-un!

Jacko's 1984 Victory Tour year and first Pepsi add put the Cola rivals ahead for the first time!

Actually, people getting fat is due more to lack of exercise than the volume of food consumed.
  • bort118 #33 7 years ago

I hate Pepsi and normal Coke. Diet Coke or Cherry Coke! Anyone else think that Dr. Pepper tastes like Cherry Coke?
