Xbox 360 vs. PS3 Face-Off: Round 17

LOTR Conquest, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Saints Row 2 and loads more.

It's the first face-off of the New Year and with it, the opportunity to bring the cold, hard, iron first of order to the games cupboard by rounding up the games we really should have covered by now, but didn't for reasons too numerous and too tedious to get into. It's also the chance to take a look at how the first high profile release of 2009 - EA's Lord of the Rings: Conquest - measures up under Eurogamer's unyielding scrutiny.

As we've got a lot of software to get through, we've bumped up the interesting games to the front of the feature, then grouped together the rest in the form of smaller, round-up featurettes at the end. However, as per the norm, all games get the full screenshot gallery treatment - captures losslessly derived from the HDMI ports of both consoles at full range 24-bit RGB precision. Where PS3 outputs a 1080p signal on any given game, additional galleries are provided, along with their 360 counterparts.

For the headline games there's also the customary video coverage. Set your Flash Player to 'high quality' to appreciate the full might of h264 encoding, or check out the author's blog if you want to download bandwidth-saturating full-HD versions running in real time, optimised for playback on PS3, Xbox 360 and dual-core PCs.

Onto the line-up then:

I would like to think that the highly mature Eurogamer community will treat this article as an informative piece to help them with purchases and not devolve into another battle in the pointless console war
  • muscleblade #4 3 years ago

Predictable - except for the Tomb Raider bit.
  • caligari #5 3 years ago

Shirley everyone can afford to own ALL 3 consoles now, anyway?
  • 200k #6 3 years ago

Ouch, 360 wins hands down yet again. One thing I have to say, I'm pretty gobsmacked at just how much the PS3 struggles with Anti Aliasing, massive oversight on the part of Sony surely? Also, and compounding the AA issues, is how weak the PS3 seems to be at image scaling.

All that said, it's no suprise thanks to Sony coming clean about their incredibly clever tactic of deliberately making PS3 hard to code for so we will be blown away in 6-9 years time.

Anyway, time to cast Lvl 9 Rash' and Les spells to inject some humour into this thread.

    @ J1GSAW

A definite example of an 'almost but not quite' release, this latest Spyro adventure initially looks very promising - full 720p, 60fps, tons upon tons of nice graphical effects, full-on 4x multi-sampling anti-aliasing (on Xbox 360 anyway, zero AA on PS3)

shit man, you are good ;)

    you should play the lottery
  • jaluuk #10 3 years ago

The Xbox 360 may be better, but the PS3 is OFFICIALLY better!
  • siro #11 3 years ago

Oh my, there's two PS3 winners in here. That's a first! Now the power of the Cell is starting to really show. The PS3 reigns firm as the uncontested market leader.
  • TopKatt #12 3 years ago

    @ Siro

    Nope, thats the Wii.
  • DFawkes #13 3 years ago

I've not played both versiond of any of those, so my opinion is entirely invalid here. What I will say is I'm not fussy about any of them anyway, so it's the easiest one ever for me - don't buy either version :) Well, maybe LOTR:C when cheap, but I wouldn't trust any artcile like this to make up my mind for me in a million years.
  • TopKatt #14 3 years ago

Wow. Only one Xbox 360 game made the Top 100 best sellers of 2008 in Japan.
  • schnide #15 3 years ago

What would make this a little bit more revelatory is a note for each game stating which console development was led on. I know a guess is taken for a few of them, but if you're coding on 360 and porting to PS3 which from what I understand has fundementally different architecture, PS3 will usually come off worse.

That said, as a gamer, I want the game that plays best - and I have a 360.
  • siro #16 3 years ago

TopKatt: That's not the point. Greetings from Hirai Kazuo.
  • TopKatt #17 3 years ago

    @Siro

You're quite right. Apologies to all for mentioning the "W" word.
  • b00n #18 3 years ago

And this despite the deliberately difficult to program for architecture! You see? Now we're happy with the progress, the 10 year strategy works!

    ...

seriously now, what setting should you set your PS3 to , to have the tv do the upscaling?
  • septimus #19 3 years ago

EG: XBOX360 is teh bestest evar!!! We even link gamer cards and like green. Could do the same with PSN, but we hates it!

/can't be assed to read this tripe. Buy both.
  • ChadSexington #20 3 years ago

I enjoy these comparisons, but aren't they utterly pointless when done months after the games come out?

If they were done at the same time as the review to allow owners of both consoles to make an informed choice, then they'd be a valuable resource. As it stands, they're just another piece of throw-away video game writing that Eurogamer uses to fill its pages.

Tomb Raider on PS3 has no trophy support. Worth pointing out.
  • Retroid #23 3 years ago

@septimus: I know facts are very bothersome, but MS provide a lot of databasey-trickery to do with Gamercards on 360, that's why MyGamercard.net and 360Voice exist: because they can play with the stats.

So far as I'm aware, Sony don't allow anywhere near that level of stats for PSN IDs. Hence one reason for the lack of integration on various websites. I'd like to have PSN details in my profile but the closest I can get it putting my ID in the blurb :p

    PESKY FACTS
  • DFawkes #24 3 years ago

"Tomb Raider on PS3 has no trophy support. Worth pointing out. "

Now that is interesting. If these features weren't just about the visuals, and also included stuff like this (as well as possible dlc and other game differences) they'd be useful. Not that I'm one for trophies, but I'd prefer the Achievement filled 360 version, if price is equal.

I thought Trophies were mandatory now though?
  • Widge #25 3 years ago

Yeah, no trophs on Tomb Raider, deffo made me count that out. Hardly going to grab it now so I can go "ooh, look at my resolution" either.

Tomb Raider was last year, its all this year forwards that has support.

  • drumbaby #31 3 years ago

Didn't realise the PS3 version of TR was a completely new engine...interesting.
  • nickthegun #32 3 years ago

    Thank fuck for that...sort of....

I bought Saints Row 2 on the PS3, but regretted not getting it on the 360 as soon as it started tearing to absolute fuckery. Im not usually one to complain about it, but it really is horrific.

But since both versions seem cursed......

Not that it matters, its a brilliant game regardless.
  • Calgon #33 3 years ago

Yeah thats a point regarding TR:
Xbox = Recycled code from the last game.
    PS3 = New engine led on PS3.

Result = barely noticable, any improvements in detail(which arent too noticable) have come at the cost of framerate and tearing... kind of pours cold water on the "when devs lead on PS3 the PS3 will pull ahead" talk since its happened on quite a few occasions now and the results have been... meh!(I mean 2 years ago who thought the PS3 fanboy would resort to celebrating cross platform games that just manage to match the 360 version without givin' away any obvious advantages?)

  • merkdot #35 3 years ago

Just put this into my spreadsheet

out of 123 games, 59 have better framerate on 360 vs 6 on PS3

17 have noticeable technical inferiorities on 360 vs 70 on PS3
  • Widge #36 3 years ago

Result of most comparisons = FUCK ALL REALLY.

I sat and looked at the FarCry 2 comparison and the difference mainly appeared to be PS3 in one corner of the screen and 360 in the other.

Also the way it was talked up I was expecting Fallout 3 to be some veritable shitfest. Cue the utter non-surprise that it wasn't.
  • toythatkills #37 3 years ago

    Hah, Blythes? Wtf! Lol
  • Benno #38 3 years ago

But PS3 users must get cheesed off knowing their friends are playing the same game with AA, better performance and xbox live (a better service) intergration. All this after paying double the price for the console.

You can play blu ray movies and uncharted atleast
  • Benno #39 3 years ago

although if uncharted came out for the 360 it would look better wouldn't it lol

I've found little to hold my attention on the PS3 since finishing Fallout 3 and have drifted back to playing Super Paper Mario and Okami on the Wii. So these articles seem all the more pointless. Graphics don't matter, especially when the only way to tell the difference if have the 2 machines running side by side on massive TVs.
  • Collymilad #44 3 years ago

    PS3 fails again.

Just when is this day going to come that PS3 fanboys keep telling you about? You know, the day when the PS3 mutli-platform games are better.

Oh and to the guy who tried to say to me on here that the PS3 MP games were now superior to the 360 versions: **** you :p
  • BartonFink #45 3 years ago

    So 17 - 0 then I guess
  • mrmonkey1980 #46 3 years ago

I actually prefer the 360 version of Tomb Raider. The darker shades are more appealing and the PS3 version looks washed out. i could be torn but the frame rate and DLC makes me lean heavily towards 360.
  • smelly #47 3 years ago

  • tomnol #48 3 years ago

You paid 700 Euros for your PS3? No wonder you are bitter.
  • tomnol #49 3 years ago

    So 17 - 0 then I guess

Yep. And about the 17th time you post that line, too
  • teabagger #50 3 years ago

Well, for me at least I'll happily accept a barely noticeable drop in visual quality in order to play without the extraordinarily loudness of the 360 offending my eardrums. Kinda spoils experience in, for example, Dead Space when it sounds like the missus is doing the hoovering next to you. Still, nice to have it around for playing Fable and Gears.
  • Simian #51 3 years ago

The image for the article on the front page is most scary
  • merkdot #52 3 years ago

    Bartonfink, for the series yes

    or 129-23 on aggregate
  • man.the.king #53 3 years ago

    @Retroid

I'm with septimus actually. Have you seen articles on any game. Unless it's a PS3-exclusive, the image of the game (on the right side) will ALWAYS and ONLY show the 360 copy. If EG were even a little impartial, they would at least have separate pages for PS3 and 360 versions, or at the very least show both 360 and PS3 versions, or at least mention prominently that this is also a PS3 game (and not the small, barely-visible blurb on the Product page, mentioning "Also on";) .

With this much of 360 bias exhibited everywhere throughout the website, is it any wonder that the 360 appears to win every time, at least on this website? Hell, every single article will exhibit a Pro-360, anti-PS3 spin. This would be apparent ONLY if you read with an open mind, not tinged with green :)

  • Kryon #54 3 years ago

OMFGZ! man.the.king is right! EG is so teh bias and it's got nothing to do with the fact that multi-plat titles are just better on the 360.

Everyone knows it's Worf who puts the shields up.
  • spudsbuckley #61 3 years ago

    We. Get. It.

360 is better for multiformat. I still buy my multiformat stuff on PS3 because it's region free which means cheaper games and my 360 is out of warranty so i'm not willing to risk it dying.

These articles are a stupidly biased idea. They're in the 360 section of the website for Christ's sake.
  • merkdot #62 3 years ago

spudsbuckley, they're in the ps3 section too.
  • spudsbuckley #63 3 years ago

Shame mine is a launch premium then, eh?
  • Chufty #64 3 years ago

merkdot: You are so helplessly sad. I'm flabbergasted to think that anyone would keep a spreadsheet of Face-Off results.
  • spudsbuckley #65 3 years ago

Or i could just use my PS3 that, you know, works perfectly.

The fact that you find it acceptable to have to pay to replace a badly designed console is insane. If my 360 dies, i probably won't replace it. I'll miss the exclusives but fuck MS for making such an unreliable machine.
  • meax #66 3 years ago

    On a lighter note..

Is it me, or is the green 'play' arrow on the Tomb Raider video look like it is unfortunately placed?
  • man.the.king #67 3 years ago

@Kryon - "OMFGZ! man.the.king is right! EG is so teh bias and it's got nothing to do with the fact that multi-plat titles are just better on the 360.
Yes - Kryon's well-thought out response to whatever I said is so illuminating. Thank you Kryon! Let me know when you ACTUALLY play a game on the PS3 (and with an OPEN MIND and no preset bias) and don't just lie.

    @Dizzy - "Man.the.emo"
How mature. Did you just read that I said something that might be perceived to be a mite unsupportive of the 360 (even though I was really referring to the tendency of EG to advertise the 360 titles and hide the PS3 ones, and it's tendency to put an anti-PS3 spin on nearly all of it's news) and decide to come up with names for me?

@xXBrombeerXx - "The PS3 is bad, certainly in anti-aliasing and scaling. Except it."
I'm not disputing that. I do accept that the PS3 is weak in some of those areas, especially for multi-plats. I was just referring to EG's tendencies, if you properly read through what I said.

@spudsbuckley - "They're in the 360 section of the website for Christ's sake."
Is there any other kind of section on EG?

At everybody who argues for EG, if the roles were reversed, or if you were not so emotionally invested in your console, and all of it's associated tangibles (like games) and intangibles (like gamerpoints, achievements), you might recognize bias for what it is. Bias for something that you like is never perceived as such.
    Edited by 2 at 21/01/09 @ 18:57
  • MasterNameless #68 3 years ago

Haha, these sections are so worth it, even if it's just to see the PS3-only gamers throw their toys out of the pram every single time. Just because the site has proper coverage doesn't mean they are biased... Oh I can't even be bothered to argue this any more in fact. Seen too many dummies spat out of exactly the fucking same non-issue.

    @meax

lol, I don't know I didn't spot that. I imagine it was either intentional or they spotted it afterwards and left it as it's pretty funny!
  • MasterNameless #69 3 years ago

HAHA! We're emotionally invested in our console? We're not the ones crying again and again about the same thing. If you don't like EG, just fuck off will you! It'd save you a lot of 'heartache'.

Why is it that the PS3 version in the comparisons almost always look light the brightness is set too high? I understand that the output may be slightly different between the consoles, but why not re-adjust the brightness for the PS3 version?

PS3 games on my monitor don't look washed-out like in the Eurogamer videos, though for Prince of Persia I did have to lower the brightness slightly using the in-game setting.

  • Scimarad #74 3 years ago

If people had actually played both versions of these games they'd quickly realise these differences ammount to pretty much bugger all. As usual you'd never guess this based on EG's choice of phrasing...

Still, believe what makes you feel happy, fanboys! :)
  • spudsbuckley #75 3 years ago

'So you don't turn on your TV in case it might die? Or your dishwasher? Or your Audio-set? '

None of those things are so badly designed that they have a 33% failure rate.

I would recommend reading a bit about human psychology, in case you don't understand something about the ego. Believe me, if you were at the receiving end, you would be shouting your lungs out.

As for leaving EG, you forget, I play 360 games as well, and for news regarding 360 games, this is as good a site as any. As far as multi-console news goes though, it does leave something to be desired as far as impartiality is concerned.

None of the people who have bothered to respond to my post have done so with actual facts or proper arguments. Most have chosen invective and the "if you don't like it, leave it" argument. So much for proper debate.

I found the disgraceful pro-PS2 and anti-Xbox BIAS horrible in the last generation.

    >:(

Or.... the PS2 had very good support and did very well last generation, and the games press reported it as such.

How odd that the Xbox owners (on the whole) didn't feel the need to run around accusing everyone of TEH BIAS, eh?

As for screenshots and such usually being the 360 versions.... I didn't think EG took most of their pictures used in articles, I thought they were mostly provided by the publishers?

Who idiot picks the so called music for these face-off rounds?
  • StooMonster #85 3 years ago

    @ man.the.king: EG's tendencies

I'm intrigued, how do you think a multiformat site such as EG would gain from a bias towards one platform or another?

If it was biased, wouldn't advertisers pull their plugs and the site lose revenue?

EG is a business, if there was a bias it would have a commercial rationale; what could that be?
  • mkreku #86 3 years ago

I still have my fat PS2 around! And I still buy Singstar's for it.
  • wayn3h #87 3 years ago

    All this arguing is funny.

I sold my 360 the other day. It was too loud and unstable for my liking. I must be one of the few people who used their PS3 more than their 360. Mainly because of the Boeing 747 sound coming from it. But also because I didn't really enjoy any of the exclusives like that. Gears...meh. Fable.. Well I did enjoy that.. When I could actually play it for more than 5 minutes at a time without it crashing.

That and the fact that the PS3 has really good media capabilities, especially with a PS3 media server running, it was a no brainer for me...

Oh, and GT5P looks fucking awful. Sure, the car models are nice, but the environments look like shit. FFS, the tire walls are just big oblong models with poor quality flat images of tires stuck onto them. It's a complete joke.
  • merkdot #92 3 years ago

GT5P looks nice enough to me, but it's bad game. A rather barren tech demo.
  • spudsbuckley #93 3 years ago

Well, sent to reviewers isn't out yet and the build could still change before release. Also, you orginally said GT5 which is a different thing from GT5P.
  • spudsbuckley #94 3 years ago

Forza 2 looks better than GT5P. GoW 1+2 look better than Uncharted.

If you're looking for an example of good PS3 graphical grunt use MGS4.

Plus if no one can buy Killzone 2 then it's not out.

I think I'll stick to playing decent games, not tired reiterations of ancient formats and heap tie in games and cash in squeles of medocre but well marketed games.

Meanwhile in the real world, nobody can actually tell a sods difference between the two, especailly if they have a telly that is decently calibrated on all inputs and a PS3 set to the right colour range.

    Piss off eurogamer.

  • VandelayIndustries #100 3 years ago

So what's the big deal with Anti-Aliasing then? I ask because my 360 version of Dead Space shows a fair amount of aliasing, as does Far Cry 2 and CoD4/WaW along with BFBC. My 360 copy of GTA IV positively shimmers with aliasing and my 360's take on Burnout Paradise looks much the same as my PS3's, to my eyes at least ;) and to say nothing of 360 exclusives like PGR4 and Gears 2.

The 'problem', I think, is much overstated and hasn't stopped me (or I suspect many many others) from enjoying the above games or for that matter any in my PS3 collection. Frame-rate drops? Fair enough.

As for Mr Leadbetter's fixation on mandatory installs vs. the 360's optional installs? If installing a game on the HDD reduces both drive ware and noise then they cease to be optional for me and I'll gladly wait out ten minutes or so before getting to play a game.

IMHO the only difference which matters is if the game PLAYS differently between the two (i.e. lower frame rates, etc).

Getting picky over the odd pixel here or there.. or whether (shock) something is aliased.. (oh no!)... Is a bit f-ing sad imho.

Getting upset over it is even worse!

    WHY 1080P GALLERIES DOESN'W WORK?

They display wrong pictures - the ones from 720p galleries, thumbtitles doeesn't match and picture after clicking show full resolution are in 1280x720 (check prosperities)

    "
    @SHARXTREME
cars in GTPp have over 100.000 triangles. resolution-1440x1080p 4xAA in game, 1920x1080 2xAA in showroom."

You are mistaken - GT5 Prologue is:
    1280x1080 2xAA in race (or 1280x720 4xAA)
    1920x1080 no AA in showroom
  • 3william56 #104 3 years ago

Here's your clicks. Now please f**k off.

Can we please have an "Ignore Author" button below "Richard Leadbetter" so my lunchtime reading isn't spoiled by this overblown pixel counting tripe.
  • Kryon #105 3 years ago

SHARXTREME has got to be the sock of Apololol, it's practically impossible that there could be two people so retarded inhabiting the same world.

    @3william56

Why do you need an ignore author button? If you don't like seeing comparison articles, simply don't click on them, surely that would be the intelligent thing to do, no?

  • anss123 #106 3 years ago

These comparisons are great. Not everyone (me) wants to read comprehensive reviews for each game and the reviews in these articles are good enough for me.

Hmm... thinking of getting PoP now.

  • spudsbuckley #108 3 years ago

'It also helps that the 360 has an excellent online downloadable game service as well.'

XBLA games aren't proper games, they're just pretty Flash games.

MS need to start putting up proper downloadable games (besides the Xbox classics) like those that are on the PSN.
  • oupe #109 3 years ago

With all this talk of graphical superiority am I really the only one who actually prefers the PS3's slight blur? Now I am talking slight and not full-on Saint's Row smear, however watching the HD videos here I found it much more realistic then the 360's rendering of every individual chain-link mail on the guy standing at the other side of the hall. Perhaps it's just down to my eyeglasses high prescription, but the world as it presents itself to me is much more PS3 than 360.

Saying that yes the PS3 blur on near objects is a shame; perhaps some sort of z-level blur would be in order if not already present?

Oh and before anyone mentions it yes I agree screen-tear appears much more prevalent on the PS3 compared to the 360.

    @StooMonster
"I'm intrigued, how do you think a multiformat site such as EG would gain from a bias towards one platform or another?

If it was biased, wouldn't advertisers pull their plugs and the site lose revenue?

EG is a business, if there was a bias it would have a commercial rationale; what could that be? "

You have a point. The answer to your question is, "I really don't know".

It just seems like EG seems to be selective in quoting and interpretations, offering snide comments, sarcasm and the like. I was just offering what I gathered from my browsing on here. I really am not sure how this would affect their revenue, positively or negatively.

However, and this goes way into conspiracy theory area and is probably completely wrong, Gamesites are not above accepting money from specific parties (e.g. Gamespot). And they don't have to do anything obvious, just non-obvious spin, comments at the expense of one party, slightly slanted reviews, and there you are. Anyway, this is probably wrong. The truth is probably something a lot simpler - journalists and reviewers are people as well, and they can get caught up in hype and hate-waves just like anybody else, and that probably does affect their judgment. I'm not sure whether you know this, but what people see and hear is always affected by their preconceptions, and the state of their minds.

In summary, I still feel that EG is being biased for some reason - I'm just not sure how this is helping their bottom-line. However, if you feel I'm incorrect, feel free to prove me wrong with facts/observations/conclusions of your own.

I own Fifa09 on PS3. I am pretty happy with it because of features and lagfree online. But on Be a Pro, with Be a Pro camera there seems to be some framerate probs on some stadiums. It seems that arena runs at 60fps while in the match it runs at 20fps... what gives??? I can't even perform the special tricks because of the slow response of my key presses. The framerate won't let me "Be a pro"...

Any 360 fanboy here with the game? do you have similar problems?

  • davisorle #116 3 years ago

Like ive said so many times before.. Sony has no fucking clue when it comes to hardware in PC and gaming. Cause they managed to do something with PS1 from a stolen project with a hardware worse than the Dreamcast back then without software support YET AGAIN tell sme nothing. PS2 was a failure without real competition back then and now that there is competition it's easy to become obvious how retarded they are whn it comes to a console. Stick the BR up your asses and the cell tech when you have no fucking clue when to put things together along with a proper GPU & memmory bridging to get the results u want. As if I don't remember the laughing we had around here with the name they gave to their last console's GPU... lol Have fun suckers. At least you got a BR player right? Wasnt it your fucking moto all the past 2-3 years? Eat it now. A whole capacity of GBs to get you full.

    ~ Peace :p

"PS won the Tomb Raider one...clear evidence that the tide is turning :o) "

Yes, nice to see it coming out on top for once visually but a low point of 15fps is possibly too big a price to pay, particularly for a game like TR ...
  • bonker #118 3 years ago

"Just put this into my spreadsheet

out of 123 games, 59 have better framerate on 360 vs 6 on PS3

    17 have noticeable technical inferiorities on 360 vs 70 on PS3 "

If that spreadsheet really exists then do please keep it updated as that is interesting data - hope you're keeping the dates against the entries so you can track trends!

PRINCE OF PERSIA BEST GAME EVARRRRRR
  • Darren #120 3 years ago

Sad as it might sound, I always find these articles interesting because usually I only buy one version of the game and often wonder what the other one is like if there wasn't a demo (it should come as no surprise that it's usually the 360 version I buy though).

I didn't know Saints Row 2 ran at a sub-720p... I thought there was something odd about the graphics compared with the first game though... they actually looked *worse*, not something you expect from a sequel!!! Anyway, SR2 was one of the most technically inept games of 2008 IMO. It was fun for a while but it lacked soul, was horrendously buggy and as such was massively inferior to the superb GTA IV.

I'm still a little disappointed with the PS3 some two years on. Given the machine's much higher price point and more recent release, you'd have expected the machine to have the edge over the older Xbox 360 just like the Xbox did over the PS2 last generation but that hasn't been the case despite Sony insisting that the 360 is inferior technically. So long as there are excellent games like LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, MLB 08 The Show and the terrific looking Killzone 2 on the PS3 then I don't think it really matters that much what the quality of the multiformat games are like as they are rarely system sellers anyway.
  • m0thr4 #121 3 years ago

It always amuses me to see PS3 fanboys heralding Uncharted as some kind of demonstration of the PS3's technical abilities.

I love the game and have recently bought it again on budget release for another play through before the sequel, but there's no denying the screen tears like a motherfucker throughout the entire game... more so thahn most PS3 games in fact.

Well I've finally played one of those games on both (LOTR Conquest), and it is the first game I've ever played that is significantly worse on 360 IF you play like I did with VGA. I'm hoping it's just my set-up, but I've never seen so many jaggies in a game ever.

It's probably down to bad optimisiation for VGA (see Capcom and their misiion to have all games tear on VGA), but still. Bad show.

    Apart from that, identical.
  • Clam #124 3 years ago

The only reason why Multiplatform games are better on 360 is because thats the lead platform they were developing them on. They didn't sit down with the PS3 and make it around the PS3's Architecture and capabilities of the PS3 to take advantage on, thats why it looks so shitty. I gaurantee if the developers made it on the PS3 first it would run alot smoother then porting it from the 360 over to the PS3. They haven't realized the Potential or capability of the machine yet, and some are starting to see how powerful it is.

Can't wait for Killzone 2 to come out, i'm going to have a hell of a time.
  • DFawkes #125 3 years ago

I've finally played one of these games on both consoles, Lord of the Rings: Conquest, and it's the first game I've played that is significantly better looking on PS3, on my set-up at least. On my 360, it's one of the jaggiest, framerate droppiest games I've ever played. Not game breakingly so, but it's certainly not up to the standard of the PS3 version. I prefer the 360 controller though.

About Prince of Persia, Isn't there a chance that the Blur On The Ps3 Version is caused From Quincunx Anti-Aliasing? And Xbox 360 Version uses 2xMSAA? I Heard PoP Used AC Engine and These AA Setups Were used in Assassins Creed 1/2 too. Maybe That could Explain The Blurring on the PS3.
