Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine is a VR experiment for Valve's Vive

The lightsaber game we've been looking for?

There's an official Star Wars virtual reality experience - and it's coming to Valve's Vive.

Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine lets you wield a lightsaber while fighting Stormtroopers on the famous desert planet. The Millennium Falcon makes an appearance, as well as R2-D2.

Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine is the work of ILMxLab, a research and development group set up by Lucasfilm to explore new types of Star Wars experiences. Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine is described as a "cinematic virtual reality experiment". You can see it in action in the video, below.

According to RoadtoVR, which playtested the game, Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine is a simple 10 minute experience that focuses on deflecting blaster fire.

But the potential is clear. ILMxLab is up to all sorts. The video, below, designed to attract top talent to the initiative, offers a glimpse at virtual reality and augmented reality Star Wars experiences. Here's hoping the group turns out something better than the awful Star Wars Kinect game.
