Dota 2 is now the world's first Source 2 game

Ooh, sourcey!

Having completed its metamorphosis into Dota 2 Reborn, Valve's hit free-to-play MOBA has become the first game to run completely on the new Source 2 engine.

Dota 2 - now sourcier than ever.

Dota 2 Reborn had been in beta since June of this year. Among the changes are an overhauled UI and tweaked game modes. A new 20-player mode was debuted at The International contest in August, which can lay claim to the biggest prize pot in eSports. $18m was up for grabs, with the eventual victors, Evil Geniuses, walking away with a cool $6m for their efforts.

The Source 2 engine was announced at GDC in March. Like its predecessor, introduced in 2004's Counter Strike: Source, it's available for free to aspiring developers and modders everywhere.
