Sony cuts PlayStation TV UK price to £45
"Now with an even more accessible price…"
Sony has cut the price of PlayStation TV in the UK to £44.99.
The device launched in Europe in November 2014 priced £84.99.
PlayStation TV lets you stream your PlayStation 4 games to another HD TV in your home, as well as play PS Vita, PSP and PS one classics on the TV.
If you own a PS4, you can use Remote Play to stream PS4 games from your console to PS TV over your home network. So, if your living room TV is occupied, you can use PS4 Remote Play to play a PS4 game on another HD TV.
The price cut is welcome, given many considered PS TV too expensive when it launched. Digital Foundry's review labelled it "over-priced and under-specced".
"Without strong supporting services, what we're left with is essentially a Vita without a screen - but what really kills PlayStation TV's chances of success is its inflated price-point," Digital Foundry chief Richard Leadbetter wrote.
"It costs £85 for just the micro-console, HDMI cable, power adaptor and a redeem code for OlliOlli, Velocity Ultra and Worms Evolution Extreme. You aren't even supplied with a controller - you need to supply your own Dual Shock 3 or Dual Shock 4, otherwise you're left with a completely inoperable device."
