Ziggurat brings procedurally-generated first-person shooting to PS4 next week

Also demonic carrots.

Procedurally-generated fantasy first-person shooter Ziggurat is coming to European PS4s on 22nd April, developer Milkstone Studios has announced.

This is Bugs Bunny's worst nightmare.

North Americans get it a day earlier.

Wait, didn't we just have a procedurally-generated FPS on PS4 called Tower of Guns? Indeed we did, and it was pretty good too, though our Chris Donlan liked Ziggurat's weapon feedback more. "It feels a bit like Tower of Guns, although there's much better feedback from the off," he wrote in his Ziggurat impressions upon playing its PC version. [Editor's note: It's since come to Xbox One as well.]

"I suspect that the joys of Ziggurat will endure even when it's run out of surprises to spring, however," he stated. "This is a fantasy Serious Sam with endlessly reconfiguring dungeons."

He was also fond of its monstrous carrots. Or maybe he hated them as they kept killing him. Clearly Donlan has a complicated relationship with carrots.

Milkstone's most proud of Ziggurat's immediacy and reliance on skill. "Unlike most Rogue-thingies, on Ziggurat your combat skills will be the most important asset to keep advancing. Leveling up and randomly generated content is there to improve variety and make each game different, not to make the game a roll dice or an unbearable grind," the developer explained.

"Most perks are designed to change the way you have to play or the weapons you'll want to use. Do you want more speed in exchange for less health, or maybe is better to have mana regeneration? Increase drop rate, or refill ammo here and now? No numbers game here, [just] simple and direct choices."
