Zelda - Ka'o Makagh and Metal Doors Open The Way in Breath of the Wild

How to find and solve Ka'o Makagh and Metal Doors Open The Way in the Lake region.

Ka'o Makagh is one of the many shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and is located within the Lake region, which features the Metal Doors Open The Way trial.

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Shrine location maps page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

Where to find Ka'o Makagh

This is found next to the Highland Stable in the Lake region, which is found on the road south of Lake Hylia, which itself is south of the starting Great Plateau area.

Like other stable-located Shines, there is no puzzle to solve - just head up, put the tablet in, and down you go.

Ka'o Makagh and Metal Doors Open The Way solution

As the name suggests, this involves using Metal Doors (or specifically, one - which we'll come to in a moment) to solve the Shrine.

First, open the doors ahead of you with Magnesis, and head left to the doors on that side. On the way is a Guardian Scout.

Once defeated, you'll notice to the left of the doors is a column of cracked rock. Switch to the bomb rune to blow it up. Head round the other side and open the chest for a Royal Bow.

Now, with the door unhinged, you can use Magnesis on the side that was closed to the cracked rock, and pull it apart - allowing you to use it as a platform elsewhere.

Head to the platform that was right as you entered, to find a small set of steps (and another Guardian Scout). Lay the door like a bridge over to the platform ahead, and walk over.

You can use it again going up to the altar, but before that, use it on the elevated platform to the left. Head up, and use Magnesis on the chest on top of the blocks to get an Opal.
