Zelda - Akh Va-quot and Windmills trial solution in Breath of the Wild

How to solve the Tabantha region trial.

Akh Va-quot is one of the many Shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The challenge inside, named the Windmills trial, is a puzzle that has you strike levers to manipulate the direction of multiple windmills. Get it right, and you'll walk out a success.

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Zelda: Breath of the Wild Shrine of Trials locations page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

Where to find Akh Va-quot

The Akh Va-quotshrine is located within the Tabantha region, specifically on one of the platforms in Rito Village. To get there, simply work your way up the various platforms of the Village itself, and it's hard to miss.

If you've yet to find Rito Village, it's located due north of Tabantha Tower - you can paraglide most of the way there by going straight north off the tower, or simply follow the nearby road northwards. The village itself is in the centre of a lagoon, and hard to miss when you reach it.

There's no puzzle to solve here in order to access the shrine, so simply dive in when you're ready.

Akh Va-quot and Windmills trial solution

Inside, you'll be faced with a pretty vast field of windmill turbines and mechanisms. But before you dive into solving that, turn to your right - there's a body of water there and not one, not two, but three bonus chests to be had.

First, construct a pillar of ice with Cryonis on the right hand side, by the first alcove.

In there is chest number one, containing a Sapphire.

Do the same again for the next alcove along on the right, where chest number two contains a Feathered Spear.

After that, head back to the starting platform and face towards the water again. At the end is an orange crystal - hit it with an arrow and it'll start up a windmill, which in turn blows air at the turbine next to you.

This opens the gate to chest number three, which contains a valuable Ancient Core.

Now, back to the massive wind farm in the main room. You'll notice each windmill is attached to a block with a crystal on it, which rotate when struck with any kind of weapon. You want to hit the following arrows in the following order to manipulate the wind and open up the exit:

  • Near left - three hits
  • Far left - three hits
  • All others - one hit
Three hits on this one.
Three hits again on this.
One hit.
One hit.
One hit.
One hit.

That should direct the wind appropriately, and in turn unlock the door, meaning you're all clear!
