Zelda - Shai Utoh and Halt the Tilt trial solution in Breath of the Wild

How to solve the Faron region trial.

Shai Utoh is one of the many Shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The challenge inside, named the Halt the Tilt trial, is a puzzle that has you freeze seesaws with Stasis in order to keep progressing. Get it right, and you'll walk out a success.

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Shrine location maps page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

Where to find Shai Utoh

The Shai Utoh shrine is located within the Faron region, specifically to the south of Faron Tower and a little east, directly behind the Lakeside Stable. To get there, Paraglide south east from Faron Tower, then take the trail on the south side of the river to the Lakeside Stable.

The shrine is actually hidden, behind some destructible rocks in the cliff face, but is still on ground level right behind the stables. The rocks stand out fairly clearly, as they're a more greyish colour than the red-tinged rocks, and are easily destroyed with any bomb.

Other than finding it, there's no puzzle to solve here in order to access the shrine, so simply dive in when you're ready.

Inside the shrine you'll first of all be faced with a concrete seesaw, which will tilt down when you stand on the far end and stop you progressing.

To progress here, you need to freeze the seesaw with Stasis, then run up it before it unfreezes.

On the next level, there's another one, this time facing towards a platform with a chest on it. Use the same process with Stasis to get up to the chest.

Thanks to a new update, it's now possible to play Zelda Breath of the Wild in VR. Want help with the main game? Our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough can help complete Divine Beasts Vah Ruta, Vah Rudiana, Vah Medoh and Vah Naboris and more. There's also how to get the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and all Zelda Captured Memories and Great Fairy Fountain locations, while our Shrines locations and Shrine maps hub explains where to find and solve every puzzle room, including dragon locations and Labyrinth solutions. We also have a DLC 1 guide and DLC 2 guide, including all Tingle, Majora's Mask, Phantom, Midna outfit locations.

Then, you want to hop down from the platform with the chest onto the raised end of that ramp, which will lower it. Once it's down, freeze it, and you can run up the other side to the next level.

Now, things get a little more difficult. Start by grabbing the metal chest you just opened with Magnesis and bringing it over to the next ramp, which is pointing upwards towards another ledge - which houses an out-of-sight chest.

What you need to do here is stand on the lowered edge of this seesaw and drop the metal chest from a significant height onto the other end, catapulting yourself upwards so you can paraglide down to the ledge.

It's tight - you need to scramble a little to actually get up to the ledge - but doable after a few tries. Inside the chest you'll find an Ancient Core.

There are a couple of ways to exit now, but the easiest is to freeze the higher platform by the exit from the ledge with the chest, and then paraglide down to it.

Head to the exit, and you're done!

While you're here, here are other Shrines within this region:
