XCOM: Enemy Unknown dev announces free-to-play strategy game Haunted Hollow

UPDATE: Horror-fuelled Firaxis project now on App Store.

UPDATE: Haunted Hollow is now available to download from the iOS App Store, 2K Games has announced.

ORIGINAL STORY: The next project from the creator of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Sid Meier's Civilization 3, 4 and 5 will be free-to-play iOS strategy title Haunted Hollow.

Developer Firaxis Games' project is the latest mobile release from publisher 2K.

Players can build and rule a monster-spawning mansion, then send their freakish creations into battle with rivals for territory.

And that's presumably where the paid-for bits come into play. You'll be able to "power-up with each monster's own menacing powers and additional enhancements".

You can challenge friends online through Game Centre, or locally through pass-and-play.

2K describe Haunted Hollow as being designed for both casual gamers and "strategy buffs". It's headed to the App Store sometime this spring.
