Microsoft makes Xbox Preview Program open to all

And renames it Xbox Insider Program.

Microsoft has made its Xbox Preview Program open to all - and renamed it Xbox Insider Program.

Previously, you needed an invite to get early access to games and apps coming to Xbox One. Now, you just need to opt-in to get access.

It's worth noting, however, that Xbox system updates will be limited to those already testing them, and so will not be open to new members. Microsoft said this is because it still has a huge number of volunteers already testing and providing feedback on system updates.

The Xbox Insider Hub is the section of the console from which you'll use the new features. Here you'll find announcements, quests and opportunities to get early access to games and apps.

There's a new user interface, too, inspired by the New Xbox One Experience.

These changes are rolling out now to a small number of preview members who have provided the most feedback since Xbox Preview Program began, Microsoft said. Over the next few weeks, all existing Xbox Preview members will get access to the new Xbox Insider Hub.
