Xbox Live Marketplace retitled as Xbox Games Store

RIP XMP.

Microsoft has rebranded Xbox Live Marketplace ahead of the Xbox One's launch.

Retitled as Xbox Games Store, its name tallies with the company's Xbox Video Store and Xbox Music Store offerings.

The Xbox Games Store website - still located at marketplace.xbox.com for the time being - now groups titles by platform. Sections for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Mobile and Web games are available.

Xbox Live Marketplace launched alongside the Xbox 360 in November 2005 - making it nearly eight years old.

Microsoft removed the option to buy PC titles through Xbox.com earlier this month, and its Games for Windows Live service will be shut down next year.

This week also saw the general retirement of Microsoft Points, which were replaced by your local currency in the latest Xbox 360 system update.
