Words With Friends dev is making an Oculus Rift-exclusive platformer

And a sandbox game for Steam later this year.

Words With Friends co-creator Paul Bettner is making an Oculus Rift-exclusive platformer entitled Lucky's Tale.

Lucky's Tale will be the debut game by Bettner's new studio, Playful Corp. The game will be shown off for the first time next week at E3.

"Virtual reality - I mean truly accurate, comfortable virtual reality - is the most important thing to happen to interactive entertainment in decades," said Bettner. "I know it sounds like exaggeration, but it's impossible to explain what this is like to someone who hasn't experienced it for themselves. Your brain is convinced that you are somewhere else, that you are in another world. I have worked my entire career to get to this moment, to create something like this."

"This is not a port. We've made something new, from scratch - a made-only-for-VR game," the Words With Friend co-creator added. "The result is unexpected and surprisingly delightful. A platformer in VR? It's a totally new experience, not what typically comes to mind when you think of what a VR game can be."

In addition to Lucky's Tale, Playful Corp. is also making an open-world sandbox game called Creativerse. This too will come to Oculus Rift, but only after launching on Steam later this year.

This is Playful Corp. Does it look playful enough for you?
