Windows 10 release in July, AMD spills

Oops-a-glazey!

Windows 10 will be released at the end of July, according to computer processor-producer AMD.

Big boss Lisa Su let the date slip in an earnings call. She said: "What we also are factoring in is, you know, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July... ." (Transcript on Seeking Alpha, story via Releases and Reddit.)

Microsoft had only previously mentioned "summer" as a window for the Windows 10 release. When pressed for comment on Su's quote, a Microsoft spokesperson reiterated to Eurogamer “Microsoft has said Windows 10 will launch this summer. We have nothing additional to share.”

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for anyone running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 (on phone or PC). Even people running pirated versions are offered a free upgrade.

Windows 10 will also let you stream Xbox One games to PC and tablet via local WiFi, and there will be many ID@Xbox games with cross-buy and cross-play incentives.
