Wii topping UK hardware chart for '09

Plus: DSi is fastest-selling handheld.

Nearly 800,000 Wii units have been sold in the UK since January, making it the best-selling console of the year so far.

According to GamesIndustry.biz the DSi has also done well, with 370,000 units shifted in the first four months. That makes it a faster-selling handheld than both the DS and DS Lite.

Not that the Lite's slacking - 680,00 of the little blighters have been sold this year alone. That brings the total number sold in the UK to 7.5 million. The figure for the original DS stands at 1.6 million.

On top of all that, there are now 5.5 million Wii consoles in UK homes. Perhaps they should buy David Yarnton a crown after all.
