Who's making LittleBigPlanet Vita?

North East dev Double11 in hot seat.

Little-known UK developer Double11 is the studio behind the PlayStation Vita version of LittleBigPlanet.

The North-East of England studio was formed a year ago by ex-Rockstar engineers Lee Hutchinson and Matt Shepcar.

They are acting chiefly as the technology architects on the game, working closely with Sweden's Tarsier Studios, which worked with LittleBigPlanet creator Media Molecule on the last two editions on the PlayStation 3.

"It's a fantastic achievement and a privilege for the studio to be working on a project such as LittleBigPlanet, particularly for such an exciting new platform," Hutchinson said.

"We've spent the best part of a year recruiting a crack squad of games development professionals and we're delighted that we can finally announce it. It was really great to see such an enthusiastic response at the recent E3 and we are confident we’ll be able to do more so in the future."

At E3 Sony promised to "revolutionise portable gaming" with LittleBigPlanet Vita.

Rear touch is used to poke objects forward from the back of a level. Meanwhile, multi-touch is used in multiplayer with two players using either end of the screen.

Obviously, online is supported and sharing creations with the community will be a major part of the experience.

The Vita version will feature "all the tools from LittleBigPlanet 2".
