Who is to blame for LA Noire crashes?

Sony and Rockstar issue joint statement.

Neither the PlayStation 3's 3.61 firmware update nor L.A. Noire itself are to blame for system crashes reported while playing Rockstar's new crime epic, according to a joint statement from the developer and Sony.

Yesterday, Rockstar claimed that the update was causing some PlayStation 3s to overheat and crash the game. However, it then later retracted the accusation, adding that the game was crashing on the Xbox 360 too.

A new joint statement between it and Sony has now appeared on Rockstar's website explaining that the game itself isn't to blame for the problem either.

"We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3's overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire," it reads.

"At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat.

"We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise. If you are experiencing any issues with L.A. Noire or your PS3 hardware, please contact technical support using any of the means provided."

What a brain-twister. If neither Rockstar or Sony are responsible, who on earth is?
