Watch the opening of The Last of Us' Left Behind DLC

UPDATE: The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog has released the full version of the opening cinematic to its story-based DLC, Left Behind.
The clip still doesn't tell us too much, but it helps inform us of the relationship between Ellie and her trouble-seeking older friend Riley. Give it a go if you're curious, but if you want to go in completely fresh you need only wait another three weeks as Left Behind debuts on 14th February.
ORIGINAL STORY:The opening minute of The Last of Us' only announced story-based DLC, Left Behind, has been shown off in a video exclusive to IGN (Light spoilers, obv.).
Like The Last of Us proper, Left Behind begins with the image of a sleeping girl. This time out it's everybody's favourite precocious companion Ellie, as she's startled awake by her friend Riley, who's snuck into her bedroom pretending to be infected. Probably not a good idea as it turns out Ellie sleeps with a knife under her pillow for just such occasions. Luckily the gag gets sorted before anyone gets murdered, and Ellie comments that it's been a long time since the girls have seen each other. "46 days," Riley specifies.
Ashley Johnson, the actress who played Ellie, explained on the PlayStation Blog that "You'll definitely see a more playful side to Ellie and get to know her a bit better. You're going to see a lot of different sides to the character that you definitely didn't see in The Last of Us."
"It's a little bit more 'fun', because you have two teenage girls going through a mall," Johnson added. "It's kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out. Definitely not a normal hangout!"
While Left Behind is a prequel to the main game, it will still require The Last of Us to play. This makes sense given that the DLC covers certain story points that aren't revealed until later on in the main game. Left Behind will cost $14.99, and while it's due in "early 2014," no specific release date has been announced.
