Watch: Johnny makes Cook Cook's Fiend Stew from Fallout New Vegas

Caesar's luncheon.

I've been recreating video game foodstuffs for a number of weeks, now - this episode is the 21st, in fact - and if there's one thing I've learned about video game recipes, it's that they can often be a bit vague.

Of all the ones I've encountered thus far, however, the schematic for Cook Cook's Fiend Stew from Fallout: New Vegas definitely tops the list. There are no cooking instructions whatsoever, and there are just four ingredients - brahmin meat, two beers, a jalapeno and a potato.

Undeterred, I set out to make Cook Cook's Fiend stew into something palatable without messing with the original list of ingredients. You can see how I got on in the video below and, should you feel inspired to make some fiendish stew for yourself, will find the recipe pasted below that.

Cook Cook's Fiend Stew

Ingredients

1kg stewing beef, cubed

1 jalapeno, diced

2 beers (330ml apiece)

1 potato

1-2 tablespoons plain flour

1 teaspoon brown sugar

2 beef stock cubes

Method

Brown the beef in a large pan with some olive oil.

Crumble in the stock cubes, then add the flour and brown sugar and stir until the meat is coated. Cook for another minute.

Pour in the beer, add the jalapeno and season with salt and pepper. Turn the heat down to a low simmer and leave for at least an hour.

Cut up the potato, add stir into the stew and leave to simmer until the potato is cooked through and the sauce is at the desired consistency.
