Vita to PSP connectivity confirmed

Cross-platform multiplayer possible.

PlayStation Vita owners will be able to play compatible multiplayer titles with PSP users, Sony has confirmed.

According to the system's Japanese website, as translated by Siliconera, if you download a PSP title onto your Vita from PSN, you will be able to play ad hoc multiplayer with users running the same game on Sony's last-gen handheld.

Apparently not every single PSP game will be compatible, though the majority will.

The most immediate beneficiary of the functionality will be Square Enix's just-announced RPG Lords of Apocalypse which is being released on both platforms, though no doubt the Monster Hunter crowd will also be happy to hear the news.
