Virgin returns to videogames
To host tournaments online.
Richard Branson's mega-corporation Virgin is returning to videogames. The company will allow PS3 and 360 gamers to compete against each other online for real-life prizes.
The enterprise, dubbed Virgin Gaming, will kick off with a ModNation Racers tournament. There's a website up and running now.
The winner - the highest finisher on a leaderboard - will be given a round trip to Las Vegas with three nights' accommodation and $500 spending money. Runners-up will receive a big telly (2nd place), PSPgo (3rd place) or PSP-3000 (4th place).
MaxConsole dug and discovered that Entertainment Tech was powering the Virgin Gaming operation. The service will emulate website WorldGaming, which allows users to challenge each other and compete for hard cash.
The full Virgin Gaming reveal is expected to happen at E3 later this month.
