Uncharted 4 - Where to find every Journal Note

Our second collectible guide gives you the locations of every one of the written notes that Nate can pick up and store in his journal.

Our next collectible guide is for Uncharted 4's Journal Notes. These are the written notes that Nate can find on his adventures, pick up and store in his journal. Here's a list of where to find every one of the 23 Journal Notes in the game, in the order that you will come across them in the game. If playing through the game for the first time, you might want to use our walkthrough (linked at the bottom of this page), which also includes the locations of all the notes.

All Uncharted 4 journal note locations

CHAPTER 8

  1. Once you're down the stairs into the crypt, examine the skeleton on the ground to the left.

CHAPTER 9

  1. In the area with the seesaw there's a skeleton on the lower level holding the note.

CHAPTER 10

  1. In a cave behind the waterfall on the left of the lake. Pull the box down with your rope and use it to climb to the wooden platform on the other side.
  2. After cresting the hill into the large open area, head right to find a well. The note is on a body to the right.

CHAPTER 12

  1. From the starting point, head left around the island until you find a shipwreck. The note is amongst the barrels and assorted detritus on the beach.
  2. From the starting point, head just left of the channel between the two islands to find a large beach area. The note is in a cave in the rear right.

CHAPTER 13
(Note: All these are located after the cutscene that involves you falling into a deep ravine - there's nothing to collect until that point.)

  1. After emerging from the other end of the cave system behind the large waterfall there's a skeleton on the ground. Examine him to collect the note.
  2. After the firefight, pass through the wooded area ahead and you'll find a skeleton on the ground holding the note.

CHAPTER 14

  1. Head towards the blacksmith's, then climb up the handholds on the outside of the right end wall. The note is on the table upstairs.
  2. Upon entering the building after first fight sequence, the note will be on a table directly in front of you.

CHAPTER 15
(Note: the chapter summary only mentions three notes, and we're not sure which one of these is the ringer, so grab them all.)

  1. In a drawer immediately to the right of your starting location.
  2. In a chest on the outside of the end of the left-hand row of shelves.
  3. In a drawer on the left along the central row of shelves.
  4. In a chest at the end of the right hand set of shelves.

CHAPTER 17

  1. Just before you reach the third elevator, you'll pass a small building on the right. The note is on the table inside.
  2. After the dramatic stone bridge failure, head towards the bridge. Keep right to avoid triggering the end of the chapter and drop down the edge past the bridge to find this note on a skeleton.

CHAPTER 18

  1. After jumping from the first building after dropping into the first submerged area, crawl through the gap in front of you and bear right and the note will be on the edge of the bed.
  2. When you reach the waterfall area with the stone pergola, look on the table next to the statue.
  3. After passing through the bedroom and into the corridor, look on the desk in the corner.
  4. After the cutscene in the banqueting room look to the right of Avery's chair.
  5. In the room after the banqueting area examine the debris in front of the fireplace.
  6. Elena will hand you the final one, and taking it from her is required to continue the story.

CHAPTER 20

  1. When you reach the dead end, stand behind the Avery statue and face his back. Enter the building 45 degrees to your left and it's on the ground floor.

CHAPTER 21

  1. On a skeleton to the right of the campfire.
