Two high-profile BioShock Infinite devs quit Irrational

Art director rumoured to be off to Naughty Dog.

Two high-profile BioShock Infinite developers have quit Irrational Games.

Product development director Tim Gerritsen and art director Nate Wells have both left the studio. Wells' departure is a particular blow. He was a 13-year Irrational veteran and one of the brains behind the first BioShock game's stand-out art style.

As Gamasutra points out, Wells may be off to Uncharted maker Naughty Dog. His LinkedIn page briefly listed the Sony-owned developer among his employers in 2012.

Irrational boss Ken Levine confirmed Wells' departure on Twitter, and announced that Scott Sinclair, the art director on BioShock 1, had replaced him for Infinite "to bring it home".

He added: "Can't wait to show you what's cooking." "Capable hands indeed!" Wells replied. "Knock it out SINC."

Infinite was announced in 2010 and was set for launch in October, but was delayed to February 2013 to add extra spit and polish, and perhaps multiplayer.

Gerritsen was in charge of managing the BioShock Infinite content creators. He used to work at Prey 2 developer Human Head Studios.

BioShock Infinite skipped E3 and will not be shown at Gamescom this month.
