Tony Hawk vs Shaun White results in

Which skating game was the biggest flop?

Last year, two of the biggest names in skateboarding competed for gamers' hard-earned cash with Tony Hawk: Shred and Shaun White Skateboarding. Both titles tanked, but which one bombed the hardest?

Well, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Hawk has walked away from the disaster zone with the most dignity intact.

Despite its "disastrous" launch week, in which it only managed to move 3000 copies, Tony Hawk: Shred has gone on to sell an almost-respectable 270,000 units worldwide since its October 2010 release. Its predecessor, 2009's Tony Hawk: Ride, notched up 1.3 million sales.

In comparison, Ubisoft's Shaun White Skateboarding, which launched in the same month, has only managed 120,000 sales. That's nothing like as much as the two Shaun White Snowboarding titles, which, taken together, have sailed past the three million mark.

Poor old Shaun. His effort was easily the superior of the two, winning a solid 7/10 from Eurogamer's Simon Parkin. Shred, on the other hand, is currently sitting on a Metacritic score of just 53.

While staff at Shred developer Robomodo might take some solace at news of its pyrrhic victory, it won't get them their jobs back. Its owner, Activision, handed out a round of P45s late last year.
