Thunder god Raiden confirmed for Mortal Kombat X

There can be only one.

NetherRealm Studios has announced thunder god Raiden as the next playable character in fighting game Mortal Kombat X.

Get back in the car! Or something.

The developer unveiled a gameplay video, below, at the Evolution Championship Series fighting game tournament in Las Vegas overnight.

In it we see the three variations of Raiden you can choose from. Thunder God Raiden focuses on electrocution combos; Displacer Raiden revolves around teleportation; and Storm Lord Raiden is all about setting lightning traps.

Raiden's signature moves are all present and correct, including his torpedo move. We see his bone-crunching X-Ray, as well as a fatality, which is typically outrageously violent.

The addition of Raiden raises the confirmed character count to seven. Right now we have Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ferra / Torr, Kotal Kahn (the big bloke in the Raiden video), Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Mortal Kombat X is due out in 2015 on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
