The Witcher 3 - Nameless, fight Morkvarg, The Calm Before The Storm, Wild Hunt warriors

How to complete Nameless, win the fight with Morkvarg, and finish The Calm Before The Storm by surviving the attack of the Wild Hunt warriors.

This page covers Nameless, fight Morkvarg, The Calm Before The Storm and Wild Hunt warriors. If you're looking for more assistance, our Witcher 3 walkthrough can help.

Once the cut-scene ends, attempt to pass through the archway. It's currently locked so you'll need to find another way into the garden. Climb the steps to the left and continue up until you reach the top of the wall. Drop down off the ledge directly ahead to enter the garden. Next, look for the steps leading up to the raised area in the centre of the garden and do a running jump to cross the gap.

Nameless

Follow Craven's footsteps using your Witcher Senses

Approach the blood-spattered table and activate your Witcher Senses. Look for the bloody footprints on the ground nearby and begin following them. The footprints end at the ledge, so examine them again to make the next part of the trail materialise. Drop off the ledge and head beneath the overgrown trellises to the right, taking care of the wolf that attacks.

Craven's footprints continue around the garden in a clockwise direction, while another set of prints runs anti-clockwise. For now, follow the human prints (pausing to investigate the body when you reach it). Examine the mess of prints and the pool of blood when the human tracks come to an end near the garden entrance.

Next, resume following Craven's footprints and travel clockwise around the garden, dealing with the wolves that attack. When they're dead, continue onward until the tracks stop, then investigate the final print. Attempt to open the nearby door in order to progress the quest.

Explore the further parts of the herbarium

Activate your Witcher Senses again and examine the large animal prints on the ground nearby. You'll need to find a way around the locked gate, so walk along the steps, heading south-east, and climb back onto the raised stone platform in the centre of the area. Push forward and drop off the ledge opposite - it's the one you climbed down a little earlier.

This time, rather than heading right, pass through the wooden arch on the left. Activate your Witcher Senses and begin following the animal prints along the ground. Climb the small stone steps ahead, kill the wolf and continue along the trail. Leap over the wall, cross the small bridge and follow the footprints to the left.

When you reach the large stone wall, examine the prints on the ground, then climb the ladder built into the wall. The prints continue at the top, so activate your Witcher Senses and follow them along until you reach an impasse near the sluice gate.

Use the lever to open the flood gates so you can continue further

To proceed, pull the lever on the right-hand column nearby to adjust the central spoke. This can be in one of three positions - left, middle or right - and dictates which gate will open when you pull the lever on the left-hand column. For now, open the right-hand sluice gate.

Secondary Quest: In Wolf's Clothing (continued)

With the gate open, activate your Witcher Senses and follow the tracks up the hill, heading north. Enter the cave to confront Morkvarg. Be warned: he attacks immediately once the cut-scene ends, so be prepared dodge out of the way.

How to defeat Morkvarg

As it turns out, Morkvarg isn't too difficult to beat, provided that you dodge clear of his powerful claw swipes. Your usual tactics will help during the battle (attack from the rear, cast your shield for added protection), then speak to Morkvarg once he falls to the ground.

Question Morkvarg about Craven and the reward, then ask him about being a werewolf. Agree to help free him of the curse, then end the conversation.

Find a way into the flooded cave under Morkvarg's lair

When Morkvarg disappears, grab the wolf parts from the ground, then activate your Witcher Senses. Examine the small gap in the ground, then climb the slope nearby. Examine the skull and armour when you reach it. Exit the cave and head down the incline. Check that the right-hand sluice gate is open, then drop off the ledge to the left. From here, jump into the water and swim through the waterfall, beneath the open gate.

Search the cave using your Witcher Senses

Swim along the submerged tunnel until you resurface, then continue on into the small cavern. Loot the chest on your right for a selection of goodies, then examine the glowing pile of bones to locate the padlock key. Grab it, then retrace your steps until you're back outside.

Unlock the chapter house doors

Climb out of the water using the small stone ladder on the right, just before the bridge, then work your way back to the sacred tree on the raised platform from earlier. Enter the large wooden hut to the east of the tree and use your new-found key on the two doors.

Search the chapter house

With the doors open, search the room on the left to locate Morkvarg's diary in the wooden chest. Next, open your inventory and read the journal.

Ask Einar of Larvik why he lied to you about Morkvarg

Leave the chapter house and locate the stone ledge that you used to climb down into the garden earlier. Make your way back up and descend the steps. On the other side of the wall, mount Roach and follow the objective marker back to Einar at the docks.

Speak with Einar once you arrive, accusing him of lying to you. Decline to fight and explain that your job is to lift curses and you need to know more. To get the fang, remind him that the priestesses want their garden back.

Use the fang to lift Morkvarg's curse, or find another way to lift it

Return to the garden and make your way back to Morkvarg's lair. The curse has taken hold again so you'll need to whittle his health down once more. When Morkvarg is incapacitated, speak to him. Hand over the fang to lift the curse, then remind him about your reward.

With that done, you're able to return to Novigrad and collect your spoils (the Deithwen silver sword) from the pawnshop. However, if you kill Morkvarg once the conversation is over, you should visit the contract giver too, bringing the In Wolf's Clothing secondary quest to an end.

Nameless (continued)

Explore the further parts of the herbarium

To complete the primary quest, leave the cave and fiddle with the sluice machinery to open the middle gate. Hop down the ledge to the left then leap in the water. Swim through the now-opened gate and climb out onto dry land. Next, use the stone ladder to enter the herbarium and make your way north-east along the path.

Descend the steps to the left and approach the locked wooden gate from much earlier on in the quest. Activate your Witcher Senses and locate the footprints on the ground. Follow the trail and jump down into the hole. Climb out of the water at the bottom, then begin searching the cave.

Find Craven using your Witcher Senses

Activate your Witcher Senses and follow the pools of blood deeper into the cavern. Examine the corpse once you reach it. Speak with Yennefer and prepare to return to the surface.

Back in the sunlight, work your way through the dialogue options to kickstart another flashback sequence. Chat with Skjall when Ciri wakes and bring the conversation to an end.

The Calm Before The Storm

Follow Astrid to the sauna

Leave the hut and accompany Astrid down the hill, entering the building once you reach it.

Leave your clothes in the changing room

Make your way through the door on the left and examine the box on the dresser. Undress if you're ready to proceed. Wrap yourself in a towel then go to the sauna. Enter the steam room and converse with your new friends, agreeing to jump in the water when you're done.

[Optional] Jump in the water to cool down and regenerate

[Optional] Drink a shot of Freya's Firewater to warm you up

To complete these two optional tasks (and restore yourself to peak condition), leave the cabin and dive into the pool. Clamber out of the water, then drink from the glass beneath the tree.

Join Skjall in the stable

Re-enter the cabin and wind your way back to the changing room. Interact with the box on the table and get dressed again. Head out the door and follow the objective marker to the stables. Speak with Skjall, then ready yourself for the Wild Hunt's arrival.

Survive the fight with the Wild Hunt warriors

Try to defeat the warriors of the Wild Hunt

Back outside, start working your way through the village, dealing with the warriors and hounds that roam the area. You need to survive long enough to trigger the next part of the quest. Keeping hacking through your opponents then, when prompted, return to the stable.

Make it to Drowned Dead Rock while avoiding the riders of the Wild Hunt

Once you're on horseback, begin following Skjall along the track. Stick to the main road as it winds down to the waterfront, giving the Wild Hunt riders and hounds a wide berth.

Back in the present, speak to Yennefer and bring the quest to an end. This adds The Last Wish to your secondary quest roster.
