The Sinking City is a promising-looking open-world investigation Lovecraftian game

From the people behind Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments.

Frogwares, the developer of Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, has revealed The Sinking City, which it describes as an open-world investigation Lovecraftian game.

"It's bigger than what we've ever made and we feel it's the right next step for us, bringing the investigations to be free and opened in the city," Frogwares wrote in a post on its website.

"We also believe that Lovecraft universe, Cthulhu Mythos is the right setting for the game."

Frogwares, which is also building Sherlock Holmes Devil's Daughter, was making a Call of Cthulhu game for publisher Focus Home Interactive, but that project is now in the hands of Blood Bowl developer Cyanide. Perhaps The Sinking City is a result of the switch.

There's no release window mentioned, nor platforms. But there are a bunch of The Sinking City screenshots, below. One to watch.
