The Mad Catz LYNX 9 is part controller, part Transformer

UPDATE 7/1/15 11.30am The Batarang-shaped Mad Catz LYNX 9 controller will sell for £249.99 in the UK, its maker has confirmed to Eurogamer.

Should you be able and willing to stump up the cash, Mad Catz' creation is now available to pre-order ahead of its launch in March.

ORIGINAL STORY 7/1/15 4.50pm Mad Catz has announced the LYNX 9 Mobile Hybrid Controller, a $299.99 transforming pad that looks like a Batman gadget.

The foldable device is designed to operate as a PC controller, as a stand and controller for Android smartphones, and finally with Android tablets.

Announced today at CES 2015, the controller is currently available to pre-order via Mad Catz's website where it is listed for US release during March 2015.

Included in the box is the main LYNX 9 chassis - consisting of left and right "wings" and a "controller brain", which also includes a microphone for voice commands.

A keyboard module adds a Blackberry-style QWERTY keyboard, while the smartphone clip and tablet frame allow you to morph the controller to work with various Android devices.

There's no word yet on a UK release - for now, take a look at it transform in the gallery below.
