Tekken hitting US PS3 soon

Dark Resurrection "this month".

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is coming to the North American version of the PlayStation 3 Store "later this month", according to publisher Namco Bandai.

You may remember that Dark Resurrection pitched up on the Japanese Store just before Christmas - it's a port of the arcade game, with added 1080p graphics and a playable Jinpachi character the main highlights.

Originally released as a PSP exclusive - and a mighty strong one at that - Dark Resurrection will appear on the PS3 Store complete with its Arcade Battle, Ghost Battle and Gallery Modes.

"We are thrilled to announce that starting later this month, fighting game fans will have the opportunity to experience the ultimate fighting series, Tekken, on the PlayStation 3 system, for the first time," Namco Bandai's Makoto Iwai confirmed.

"With lightning fast gameplay, gorgeous next-gen graphics and a massive line-up of characters to choose from, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on the PlayStation 3 system will deliver the most incredible fighting experience to date as players battle it out to be crowned King of the Iron Fist Tournament."

As for its fate in Europe, Sony has previously said that it will form part of the PAL PS3 Store offering during the launch period starting 23rd March.

Over in Japan, the price was 2000 yen (GBP 8.40 / EUR 12.75), but there's no word yet on how much the port will cost in either the US or Europe. GBP 9.99 maybe? Sony hadn't returned our request for comment at the time of publication.
