Super Mario Odyssey - The Bound Bowl Grand Prix

How to complete the Snow Kingdom objective.

The Bound Bowl Grand Prix is an objective you'll encounter after a fair bit of time with Super Mario Odyssey, which follows on from Super Mario Odyssey - The Icicle Barrier and Ice Wall Barrier.

You'll find our full walkthrough for it here, whilst you can head back to our main Super Mario Odyssey guide, walkthrough and tips hub for plenty more on all aspects of the game!

The Bound Bowl Grand Prix

When you return to Shiveria Town, drop down the newly revealed hole in the floor and slide down. Keep sliding down and you'll enter Snowline Circuit. Pass under the archway, drop down and enter the doorway on the far-left. There's a missing racer who won't come out…

Jump onto the three wooden platforms in this new area, then run forwards through the snow to collect three Purple Coins. Run back and enter the middle room. Jump inside and you'll see a rather unhappy looking Shiverian. Turns out this is the missing racer, and he's determined not to take part in the race. Speak to him, then throw Cappy to possess him. Looks like we're racing together, dude!

You can now roll and press 'B' to bounce. Roll up the hill to right, turn left then roll your way down the next tunnel to re-enter the main Snowline Circuit cavern. Roll over and speak to the Shiverian Elder sat in front of the giant screen/window. He'll now offer to give you a brief tutorial before the race. Take him up on the offer.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

The tutorial uses the same racetrack as the actual race, so bound around a few times to get a feel for competition to come. Here are some tips from us: don't go off the track, the snow will slow you right down.

Hitting bounce as you hit the ground provides a touch of speed, so use it to overtake the other racers when you hit the race. Simply rolling forwards is technically slow and will see you lagging behind.

The race itself is three laps long and isn't too difficult if you follow our tips above. The other racers aren't that aggressive, and as long as you're keeping the bouncing up you're sure to eventually cross that line in first place.

When you do, you'll be whisked back to the Shiverian Elder, before you're given the chance to climb the top spot on the podium and claim a well-earned Multi Moon for your troubles.

You'll now return to the Odyssey. The sun has cleared so more areas are now explorable above ground. You'll need a total of 10 Power Moons to reach the Seaside Kingdom, so use our Power Moons Guide to meet the minimum requirement.
