Sunset Overdrive features eight-player co-op

And it's out 28th October.

Sunset Overdrive, the forthcoming Xbox One exclusive platforming-shooter from Insomniac, will be getting an eight-player co-op mode called Chaos Squad.

Insomniac president Ted Price announced the mode on-stage at Microsoft's E3 press conference, promising that players will be able to team up on dedicated servers to score loot and cause carnage.

Price also showcased a single-player level that sees the game's hero picking a path across a fairground over-run with mutants, before messing around on a rollercoaster. Nutty weapons spray particle effects all over the environment, and there's lots of room to choose your own approach by wall-running or rail-grinding.

It was a welcome splash of colour, frankly. Price also announced that the game will be released on 28th October, 2014 - just in time for Halloween.
