Sony and LG PS3 legal tussle ends

Cross-licensing deal over Blu-ray tech.

Sony and LG have ended their bitter legal tussle over rights to Blu-ray tech.

In February LG managed to have shipments of PlayStation 3s into Holland seized after it won an injunction to have the console banned from entering Europe for 10 days.

The dispute centred around LG's claim that Sony was infringing its use of Blu-ray technology. Reports suggested LG's action was revenge for Sony's December 2010 claim it was infringing seven of its patents relating to LG phones.

Now, Sony and LG have kissed and made up.

Both electronics giants have resolved their patent disputes over smartphones, TVs and Blu-ray technology, and have signed a cross-licensing deal, Reuters reports.
