Saints Row: The Third PS3 sweetener announced

North American customers get Saints Row 2 free.

Anyone purchasing the PlayStation 3 version of Saints Row: The Third in the US, Canada or Mexico can claim a free download of Saints Row 2, THQ has announced.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, just enter the Online Pass code included with the game before 13th February 2012 and you'll receive a complimentary download of its 2008 predecessor.

The post doesn't explicitly spell it out, but it seems likely the deal is an attempt to make up for the no-show of planned PS3-exclusive content in the finished game, as reported earlier this week.

We're in touch with THQ UK's office to see what, if anything, it has in store for European users and will update when we hear back.
