Ryse on PC won't feature micro-transactions

Pay-to-win denariied.

The PC version of Ryse won't include the micro-transactions found in the Xbox One version of the game, developer Crytek has announced.

The upcoming Windows edition, due 10th October, will also feature a number of visual upgrades. 4K resolution support has been added, with fresh textures and shading to improve the look of the game's blood-soaked Roman world.

All four DLC packs released over time for the game's Xbox One version will also be included as standard. The add-on content included more than a dozen multiplayer maps, a new Survival mode and extra gladiator skins.

Ryse on Xbox One includes micro-transactions for packs of new armour items, which can also be bought using regular in-game currency. The more you spent, the more likely you were to level up more quickly - but progression is tiered to limit accusations of the game being pay-to-win.

"We specifically do that so you cannot pay to win," Microsoft producer Justin Robey previously told Eurogamer. "Microtransactions are merely there as a convenience thing for people. It's completely optional and is not required in any way shape or form for gameplay. All content is accessible without using it."

The vast number of technical tweaks to Ryse on PC is detailed in full over on Crytek's website.
