Respawn registers trademark for Titan

Presumably nothing to do with Blizzard.

Respawn Entertainment, the studio founded by Call of Duty co-creators Vince Zampella and Jason West, has registered a trademark for the name Titan.

The application was filed last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for use with "video game software" (thanks, AGB).

The EA-funded Respawn has been beavering away on an unannounced project for close to three years. The studio teased a couple of indecipherable images back in 2011, but has since fallen silent.

Zampella confirmed last month that co-founder West was no longer at the company. Reports suggested that he had quit nearly a year ago "to take care of some family issues".

Respawn's new project - perhaps named Titan - is set to be shown for the first time at E3 in June.

"Respawn continues to amaze me, the team here is resilient and talented," Zampella said after West's departure. "E3 will be therapeutic for us, as we finally get to start showing our work again."

Titan is also the code-name for Blizzard's under-wraps MMO, an all-new successor to World of Warcraft of which details are just as scarce.

EA declined to comment on the matter when approached by Eurogamer.
